I am a Christian counselor/coach and I am passionate about helping men experience freedom from compulsive behaviors and, as a result, a deeper connection with God, themselves, and others. I specialize in helping men struggling with addictive and compulsive behaviors like pornography, sex, drugs, alcohol, food, work, video games, relationships, etc.
After more than 20 years of experience, I have found that true lasting healing does not happen in isolation. Weekly recovery groups provide the accountability, honesty, and brotherhood required for lasting transformation. That is why I now fully focus on the power of group work.

I have been a therapist for 15 years and have experience with substance use counseling. I feel that it is a privilege to walk beside clients as they navigate their lives and that they trust me to be part of the process. It is not lost on me how much the power of being a safe space to land is. I've been a therapist for over 45 years and thoroughly enjoy my work. I understand the personal nature of therapy and the difficulty it takes to ask for help when already feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable. I appreciate the responsibility and privilege given me when invited to join you in discussing personal and even painful issues. I'll listen, assume nothing, judge nothing, impose nothing and try to find a solution as individual and personal as your dilemma, as quickly as possible.

I believe healing shouldn't come with a price tag that adds to your issues: Substance Use sessions are $50 per hour, out-of-pocket.
I believe an effective Counselor is one who supports individuals on their journey towards healing, and serves as a co-pilot guiding them through the challenges of process to a healthier, more fulfilling life. As a compassionate and empathetic individual, I have always been drawn to helping others overcome their struggles and find their path to happiness. My desire to become a counselor stems from a deep-rooted belief in the power of human connection and the transformative impact it can have on people's lives. I love being a counselor. Watching my clients transform and grow is the most rewarding part of my job. I have specialized for over a decade in addiction and trauma, with emphasis on issues facing today's teens.. I meet my clients where they are emotionally, encouraging them to find their inner strengths and work toward goals together. We all have the innate ability to handle whatever life throws our way. However, it is often overwhelming and feels too heavy to walk through alone. My mission is to listen without judgment and help my clients find solutions that increase their overall well-being.

My strengths: Addiction, Substance Use Disorders, ACT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy-DBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-CBT, Motivational Interviewing-MI.
Coming to therapy can be scary. Most of us have been there. My goal is to help you walk that scary path and find helpful, hopeful, and successful ways to walk that path. You are not broken, I can't "fix" you. I am not that powerful by any measure. My role IS to walk with you, help you find ways to heal and mend that which has caused pain so that YOU can go forward and grow and be that authentic person you so desire to be. We can do this together. Sometimes we just need another perspective, someone who will listen completely, let you know you are heard and deeply valued.

Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.
I offer a client-centered, trauma-informed space for adolescents (13+) and adults to feel supported, seen, and empowered. I believe therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken, but about uncovering the strengths you already have and using them as a foundation for growth and healing.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
