My specialty is providing couples and sex psychotherapy. Relationships are foundations of life and can be affected by many things, such as communication, sexual needs/desires, or addictions. Our bodies experience change as we develop or go through major life changes. Sometimes they can be difficult to understand or manage. I provide a safe space to discuss intimate issues while eliminating feelings of fear or shame. My passion is to help you identify life goals and ways to help you achieve them. People work in different ways which is why I am flexible in the type of therapy I utilize.

I serve adult Texans. Many of my clients come to me with trauma, issues with confidence, self-esteem, depression, relationship issues, and anxiety. Their needs are primarily working on coping skills, validation, self-compassion, communication skills, ways to relieve stress and/or anxiety, and maintenance. Some goals include self-discovery, self-reflections, confidence in their skin and around others, and overall gaining confidence in decision making. My clients usually want someone to hear them out and to offer a new unbias perspective into their live. As your counselor, I want to help you to become the expert in your own life.

I specialize in teaching my clients how to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and grief. I also have experience with clients who wish to explore their gender identity, exhibit symptoms of schizophrenia/psychosis, and bipolar disorder.

Dr. Nix is located in Alamo Heights as well as in Oak Hills. She has worked as a clinical psychologist for over 20 years. She completed her internship and Fellowship at State University of New York and at the Post Graduate Center for Mental Health in Manhattan. For the past 10 years she worked with the military population, specializing in combat trauma. She has extensive training in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as many other modalities. Dr. Nix also offers a non-12-step approach to substance abuse that emphasizes the power of choice and freedom from destructive notions of powerlessness and disease.

My role in psychotherapy is simple. I work as a guide to help lead clients from 3rd dimensional consciousness to new levels of awareness. With the support of my guiding system and those of my clients', I act as a conduit to bring the information and energies that are needed in that point in time for the client's highest good. My approach is spiritual and energy psychology. It is based on the premise that all illness is mental illness and all healing must begin in psychotherapy.

I have Master's degrees in Counseling and Religious Studies, so I can incorporate spiritual guidance into counseling if you would like. However, this is completely optional.

I do have an eclectic approach that involves mindfulness, diet, exercise, meditation, and awareness.

I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor working with children, adolescents and adults going through a variety of situations and life transitions. I earned my bachelors in Psychology in Mexico City and a Masters degree in psychoanalysis. I then moved to Miami, FL to pursue another masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have worked with people from all walks of life going through anxiety, depression, domestic violence, incarceration, mental illness, and life transitions such as divorce, death of a loved one, entering adolescence, among others. My focus is mainly psychodynamic.
