I'll use an integrative therapeutic approach that draws from various modalities to best address your unique needs and circumstances. Rather than adhering rigidly to a single therapeutic model, I'll flexibly incorporate techniques from mindfulness based therapy, emotionally focused therapy, grief therapy and other frameworks as appropriate.

Some areas I work with are Trauma and PTSD (using EMDR as appropriate), grief, spirituality, anxiety, stress, depression, and domestic abuse.
Your family and even many therapists don't understand what you have experienced, and you don't feel safe disclosing unusual experiences. Perhaps you had spiritual experiences or dreams you cannot make sense of. You don't know what to believe anymore. Anxiety, relationship issues, numbness, and negative self-image can be signs of trauma. The life transitions you are going through feel harder than you think they should. You feel like you are carrying a heavy load that no one else can see and are disillusioned. But you've had enough of this. You want hope and meaning in your life. I get you. Let me help you move from pain to purpose!

I have experience working with grief, trauma, depression, and anxiety.
If you are someone that would like to get to the "root" of whatever challenge you are facing, we might be a good fit for each other. I enjoy finding the balance between exploring how past experiences are impacting you today, processing important topics, and integrating psycho-education and action ("now what?") into the session. I will help you build compassion for yourself, and teach you how to work with the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing so they no longer overwhelm you. I will help you create harmony within yourself so you can lead a more intentional life, and feel present and grounded while doing so.

My work centers around grief, PTSD, cultural and racial identity, faith-integrated therapy, and life transitions.
I use a blend of ACT, somatic-based approaches, Emotionally-Centered CBT (ECBT), DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy. These modalities help build emotional resilience, navigate life transitions, and repair relational systems, all through a trauma-informed and culturally grounded lens. I also integrate faith-based and spiritual practices when they align with the client’s beliefs, offering a space that honors both clinical wisdom and ancestral or spiritual healing.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
