My training background is in DBT (dialectal behavior therapy) DBT is a modality that focuses on radial compassion and acceptance.
I am a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Black therapist, Air force veteran who profoundly cares about life experience. I graduated with a Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. I want to meet people where they are at in their journey and explore where they want to be. I hold space to take time to dive deep into what makes up your authentic self. I work from a person-centered framework. I am also aware no two people are the same. I want to take my time to explore what you need. Being vulnerable is the biggest hurdle when you are seeing a therapist.

While well versed and experience in traditional interventions and therapeutic styles, such as CBT and DBT , Nicole's approach to therapy is collaborative and holistic. She includes mythology, spirituality and other non-traditional interventions in her treatment planning, particularly working to include a client’s cultural background into their care. Nicole’s guiding principle in therapy and wellness is authenticity. This is true in how she presents herself to clients and in encouraging clients to embrace their most genuine selves.

I’m comfortable utilizing DBT , and Prolonged Exposure (for trauma) if you are unsure of where to begin.
Personally and professionally, I had to overcome many obstacles to see my ambitions through. It is for these reasons that I developed an inclination towards assisting people to meet their goals and address their own concerns within therapy. For those that are feeling uncertain and overwhelmed, I’m willing to meet you where you are at within your unique journey.

Modalities include motivational interviewing, cognitive, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
Addiction also known as the thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. It takes your money, kills dreams, and destroys relationships and you are tired of it. You want your life back by way of reuniting with loved ones, fulfilling your dreams and God-given purpose, and having enough money for shelter, food, clothing, and transportation. Substance use has taken me further than I wanted to go because I did not count the cost. Prayer upon request.

Hi! Welcome to Becca Allen Counseling. Are you struggling finding it hard to relax, being overly cautious, hyper detail focused or perfectionistic? Do you often have chronic treatment resistant anxiety and or depression? You might be over controlled. What is overcontrol you ask? Overcontrol or OC is having too much self control. Too much of anything can be problematic. Self-control is the ability to inhibit urges, impulses, behaviors, or desires to delay gratification in order to pursue a long term goal. Self control is often associated with success and happiness.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

DBT is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
