I have helped others with: depression , anxiety, physical or sex abuse, PTSD, bipolar depression , dissociative disorders, phobias, chronic pain, migraines, and performance anxiety.
Emotional pain ... sucks. I can help your pain. All therapists use the same basic tools. So do I and I do some things not everyone does. PTSD responds very well to EMDR. I have been using it since 1993, so early that Francine Shapiro, the creator of EMDR, trained me herself. In addition I have trauma training from the Ross Institute. Colin Ross is arguably the expert on treating the consequences of trauma including DID and other dissociative disorders. In addition, my basic training is Marriage and Family so I excel in relationships. But memories cause most of our problems.

My focus is treating traumatic stress, depression , anxiety from childhood to combat with EMDR.
I've worked in the mental health field for over 22 years, serving in both the military and civilian settings. I specialize in treating unresolved trauma and the related issues, as well as depression , stress and anxiety. Traumatic issues include childhood abuse (physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect), sexual assault (including military), crime/theft, car accidents, grief/loss, combat, first responders/medical professionals, veterans (including moral injury) and poor leadership. My experience has taught me that most of the time depression and anxiety are unresolved emotional wounds that haven't been fully addressed.

Feelings of loneliness, inadequacy, shame, hopelessness, and anxiety/ depression often derive from negative patterns developed over time or as a result of traumatic pain or stressors.
I believe all human beings strive to create fulfilling lives with meaningful connections to others. Having a greater understanding of our strengths and weaknesses enables us to make better decisions that lead to living the life we imagine for ourselves. Through therapy, I assist clients in gaining insight into themselves through increasing coping and self-awareness. We will examine and identify values/strengths in order to make realistic goals and movement towards the life you want.

My education, my background, my own personal areas of experience and expertise include ADHD/ADD, behavior issues at home/school, depression , anxiety, high-conflict custody experience and eating disorders.
My ideal client is someone that is willing to look at the big picture of life and is open to collaborating with me leverging my expertise as well as, with my help, learning to use their own instinct. When it comes to children my approach is to collaborate with parents to best identify what coping tools and skillset are needed. When appropriate I follow a family systems approach and incorporate working with multiple family members at once, such as in family conflict or sibling rivalry.

Helping individuals manage anxiety, relationship, depression and grief is my specialty.
Non-judgmental and caring is the approach I take when life circumstances can be difficult and painful. When life stressors arise they can become challenging leaving a person with lack of purpose and loss of vision for the future. Some individuals struggle from past trauma that is unresolved and creates barriers to wellness and healthy functioning. A person may feel alone in their struggles. We can work together to lower those barriers and create a life that is meaningful and satisfying. Having a supportive listener during tough times can pave the way for lifelong changes.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
