One way to address trauma that we will explore is a flexible "toolkit" approach with basic, foundational interventions, including body-based self-soothing strategies, cognitive reappraisals, and a commitment to achieving positive goals.
Along all walks of life, we can lead to unwanted exposure to unique stresses and traumatic events, which can impact various aspects of life, including emotional and impulse control, experiences of anger, relationships, self-esteem, confidence in abilities, attention and concentration, sleep, physical health, and other daily patterns. Addressing moral injury and significant trauma requires both trust and safeguarding measures. Meaningful wellbeing and development begin with a therapeutic partnership. I am here to assist and support you in effectively and positively reconnecting with others and yourself.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma.
We all want to live in alignment with our values, pursue our passions, and have meaningful relationships. When we drift away from the principles and goals we have for ourselves, we feel lost. Each session with me is an opportunity to reconnect with your strengths, discover new insights, and get closer to what you really want. Whether you're navigating a specific challenge or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I can help. I believe we all have what it takes to make the changes we want. “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”-Rumi

I come from a place of nonjudgment, drawing on my clinical experience in modalities that include cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and EMDR.
Born in Vietnam, raised in California, and now I am a Southerner living in North Carolina. My husband is a retired soldier and because of that, we have lived all over. Currently, our home base is North Carolina, but we also loved Texas when we lived there, which is why I am licensed in both states. Having lived in so many locations and among different cultures, I am able to identify and empathize with unique personal, familial, social, and cultural issues.

CHANGE: The only constant in life that is permanent. The acronym CHANGE can be a helpful tool for understanding and addressing addiction. It provides a structured approach to the recovery process. It represents Commitment, Hope, Awareness Understanding, New Skills, Growth and Environment. By focusing on these elements, persons in recovery can build a strong foundation for lasting sobriety.

I have training and experience in evidence based approaches such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness based practices.
Have you found yourself saying “I’m fine” when you know that’s the farthest thing from the truth. Often times it feels too painful or too vulnerable to be honest with our story to others and even ourselves. The events of our story can often create a disconnected internal world far from our most authentic self. In this isolated space, emotions can vary from numb and out of touch to overblown and out of control. When we are able to accept that this pattern is no long working for us (which I know is a hard truth to step into) and have the courage to face the disruptions that led us there, THAT is where healing can begin.

My therapeutic approaches include motivational interviewing, CBT, solution-focused therapy, and narrative therapy.
Do you often feel disconnected from yourself or others? Do you find yourself putting your own needs last? Do you ever wonder if life could feel more fulfilling or joyful? In today's world, many people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how to balance their relationships, careers, and personal lives. Ignoring your own needs and neglecting self-care can have lasting effects on both your mental and physical well-being. I believe that living a better life shouldn't be this difficult.

My approach with every individual is to match your personality, needs, beliefs and preferences to develop the best approach to assist you in reaching your goals whether that is CBT, ACT, Narrative and adapt to you throughout the process.
Ready to bring happiness and joy back into your life. It feels like the world around you is falling apart. There are difficult moments in your life that have disrupted that life balance. Anxiety, depression, grief, can make the world around you feel as if it is at a stand still. You might have tried self help apps, googling, or scrolling through social media to help find an answer but despite the effort you know you need an ally on your journey. Sometimes it feels like no matter how hard you try you struggle to make progress.

I studied at the Beck Institute and have earned certifications in CBT, ACT, DBT, and other acronyms.
You're too smart for treatment, too stressed to think clearly, and too caught up in holding your life together with duct tape to realize how much your challenges have taught you. I work with men who are challenged by anxiety, depression, and substances, and the people their conditions have impacted. I also work with men who have adapted other imperfect coping skills that are negatively impacting their families and careers. Working together, often directly with wives and children, we can build a life of confident and antifragile masculinity for men in distress. You don't have to freak out every time you hear "we need to talk."
