I see people who have been unable to live their potential because they continue to carry the
pain
of their past and/or live in unhealthy relationships. If that sounds like you I can help you process your trauma, get healthy and rewrite your future to more fully live your potential. Therapy with me is based on building a strong relationship where I support you through change with compassion, tough feedback, science and some humor (we ALL need that in life). I see working adults (i.e. PhDs, managers, working parents, etc). I incorporate spirituality principles when it fits with my client's cultural viewpoint.

The source of all
illness
is hidden in the subconscious mind which stores all manner of distortions about the self.
My role in psychotherapy is simple. I work as a guide to help lead clients from 3rd dimensional consciousness to new levels of awareness. With the support of my guiding system and those of my clients', I act as a conduit to bring the information and energies that are needed in that point in time for the client's highest good. My approach is spiritual and energy psychology. It is based on the premise that all
illness
is mental
illness
and all healing must begin in psychotherapy.

Emotional
pain
... sucks. I can help your
pain
. All therapists use the same basic tools. So do I and I do some things not everyone does. PTSD responds very well to EMDR. I have been using it since 1993, so early that Francine Shapiro, the creator of EMDR, trained me herself. In addition I have trauma training from the Ross Institute. Colin Ross is arguably the expert on treating the consequences of trauma including DID and other dissociative disorders. In addition, my basic training is Marriage and Family so I excel in relationships. But memories cause most of our problems.

While I use talk therapy with adults, I find that a playful approach to change soothes emotional
pain
.
You want to see your child joyous as she experiences success through focused work. You care deeply for your partner, and know that with a little help that this caring can manifest as the strong and healthy relationship you both desire. You're ready to put insomnia in the past, and re-engage with all the people and activities that are central to your happiness. It's time to develop the kind of relationships you deserve, but you don't know where to start. I'm honored to provide the guidance and support you need to reach the goal you have in mind.

Life experience has taught me to understand mental
illness
, bipolar mood disorder, other mood disorders, personality disorders, abuse victims of multiple sources, attachment disorders, sick and healthy religion and spiritually.
My job is to help people live happier lives. My office is a continuing education service for all who enter. The goal for me, and hopefully for the person I am working with, is to learn from each other through the change agent of conversation. After 40 years of experience my belief is that humans never really change until what they have does not work anymore, is broken, and gone. Thus change begins with loss, some small and some life ending. At these moments of transition, learning how to let go is the lesson, whether we like it or not. Whatever big change you are going through, positive or negative begins with an ending.

We all have an innate goodness, natural spontaneity and potential. We tend to disconnect from it in response to painful experiences. It is a natural, even genetic program, to want happiness and joy in life. The frantic attempt to numb or avoid
pain
,results in denial of joy and natural spontaneity. My commitment as a therapist is facilitation of healing and transformation towards joy and connection. I use a Holistic approach, seek authenticity, and believe that each person's uniqueness can bring inner peace, extend to family, and enhance relationships. The happiness we generate extends to others and then returns.

Chronic Pain Therapists
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.
What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.
Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.
How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
