Even if a faith approach is not what you want, we can still begin your journey, and while I am a Christian counselor, I will not impose my faith, psychology or anything on you, as I meet you where you are in life and go from there to meet your needs and goals.
I work with teens, kids, adults, and seniors. Do you want to experience things like growth, change, and healing? Are you experiencing challenges in life and even mental health ones? I help by treating the SOURCE of what you are facing. The source is a ‘root cause’ or a ‘seed’ of how it started. Examples of the source include things that happened to you as a child, a current situation, or negative thinking patterns that you may have.

As a Christian Counselor, I desire to create a space for you to discover or reconnect with how God loves you deeply and knows you well!
Why Christian Counseling by a Licensed Professional Counselor? It provides individuals identifying with a Christian worldview ways to incorporate faith in every aspect of life. What makes Christian counseling different? A few differences may include counselor led prayer and collaborative discussion of scriptures and God in relationship to presenting issues.

Thus, if a client chooses to do so, I consider it of upmost respect to help clients incorporate their Christian/Biblical faith-based belief system into their therapeutic work.
Making the decision to address life issues affecting your mental health can feel overwhelming and difficult. As a LPC, I take great privilege helping adults work through issues or situations that cause mental, emotional, and/or spiritual distress. I have experience working with some of the most acute and chronic mental health issues of varying diagnoses. I am trained to diagnose individuals appropriately per my years of clinical work experience as a crisis counselor, and I utilize that information in therapy to help clients gain knowledge, insight, and develop the necessary tools to help them succeed in daily living.

Change is what human development is all about-enormous, fantastic change. The most influential approaches to psychotherapy is psychoanalyisis and Client-centered therapy. Where problems arise from unhealthy interactions with others and could be alleviated in private between therapist and client. Together we can increase your ability to think, feel and learn new coping skills, holistically. Side effects from pharmaceutical drugs sometimes are worse than the actual symptoms of anxiety and depression. Science has proven health benefits of yoga, qigong, laughter, tapping, herbal remedies and meditation.

This is due in great part to my Christian beliefs.
I am a 23 year veteran of the US Army and the widow of an Army veteran. I am grateful daily to have been blessed to be mother to a teen girl who allows me to still be of service to my fellow man & woman through counseling. For me my faith has been my saving grace and now I endeavor to infuse hope, love and laughter into every contact made. I specialize in treating PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Grief and giving vocational guidance. We are all fearfully and wonderfully made, sometimes we just need someone to come alongside us to remind us of it.

I use evidence-based clinical training with a Christian perspective.
You’re the strong one. The one everyone comes to for help. The one family, friends, and coworkers rely on. But what if the strong one, the loyal one, the one everyone looks to "fix it," needs support too? What if you could flow through your days without the mental pressure of the “have to” or the guilt of not feeling you’re doing enough? What if you could honor your mental and emotional capacity while setting and maintaining healthy boundaries with yourself and others? What if I told you this was possible?

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
