I'm in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and also credentialed with Lyra.
If you are someone that would like to get to the "root" of whatever challenge you are facing, we might be a good fit for each other. I enjoy finding the balance between exploring how past experiences are impacting you today, processing important topics, and integrating psycho-education and action ("now what?") into the session. I will help you build compassion for yourself, and teach you how to work with the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing so they no longer overwhelm you. I will help you create harmony within yourself so you can lead a more intentional life, and feel present and grounded while doing so.

At home, mornings are chaotic, homework turns into conflict, and simple requests can trigger emotional reactions. You are receiving calls from school about your teen's difficulty with transitions, frustration tolerance, and focus. You see their potential, yet you notice they often struggle with intense emotions, racing thoughts, or sensory overload. You also worry these challenges will affect their friendships now and create social difficulties later. You want to support your teen effectively, but you are unsure what steps to take next.

I often work with people who juggle high-pressure careers, caregiving responsibilities, or the complex aftermath of trauma—especially military service members and veterans. You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re operating on autopilot. Together, we’ll slow things down, clarify your goals, and develop practical strategies for healing, growth, and renewed purpose. I work best with adults who are motivated to better understand themselves and create meaningful change, even if they feel unsure of where to begin. Many of my clients are navigating trauma, anxiety, life transitions, or relationship challenges.

Counseling is a tool one uses to identify personal shortcomings as well as gaining insight into one's own self-exploration. My approach to counseling begins with establishing a working collaboration with the client. As a therapist, I believe it is my responsibility to demonstrate to each client that they are in a safe, trusting, environment, and to help them understand why they are having difficulties. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated by patterns that keep repeating in your life. Maybe you know something needs to change, but you’re not sure where to start—or you’re tired of being told what you “should” do. You want clarity, honesty, and a therapist who respects your independence while still offering guidance. Most of all, you want practical support to help you build a healthier mindset and move forward with confidence.

I often tell the true story that when I was in elementary school my classmates would take turns coming to me at recess to share with me the things they were struggling with. I went to our first family computer and made Mickey Mouse business cards that said Dr. Dan on them. I am (and always have been) deeply honored to hear people's struggles, disappointments, dreams, and hopes and to journey with anyone who is seeking a safe space to process whatever they are going through.

Taking the step to seek support isn’t always easy, especially when you’ve been carrying a lot on your own. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward—and that’s okay. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. I work with teens and adults to create a space where you can slow down, feel heard, and start making sense of what you’re going through. My approach is warm, respectful, and grounded in practical tools from DBT and ACT, along with developmental theory, so we’re not only talking about what’s hard—we’re also building skills to help you navigate it and develop greater self-understanding.

My personal view? That one size definitely does not fit all. The issues and concerns that individuals are seeking to address include, but are not necessarily limited to, post-traumatic stress disorder, other trauma experiences, adjustment and life transition issues, grief, family conflict, stress, anxiety, depression, couples’ issues and conflict, and bipolar disorder. These issues and concerns often impact our ability to function effectively in our individual lives and in our relationships both personal and professional.

Do you notice your body reacting before your thoughts catch up—tight chest, shutting down, snapping faster than you want to? It happens quickly, and afterward you’re left trying to make sense of it or wishing you had responded differently. Maybe certain situations bring out stronger reactions than expected, or you’re trying to help your child through big emotions that don’t fully settle. I work with adults and teens whose reactions feel automatic, intense, or confusing—not because something is wrong, but because these patterns were learned and are still being activated, and are not fully understood yet.
