Are you a parent or teen feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma? Maybe you’re exhausted, stuck in survival mode, or watching your child struggle academically or socially. Perhaps getting through the day feels heavy, and your relationships are quietly suffering. You want relief from the constant stress, tools that truly help, and hope that change is possible. Most of all, you want to feel present, confident, and connected again, at home, in your relationships, and within yourself, instead of just getting by.

Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I offer a client-centered, trauma-informed space for adolescents (13+) and adults to feel supported, seen, and empowered. I believe therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken, but about uncovering the strengths you already have and using them as a foundation for growth and healing.

I'm about love, self-compassion, radical acceptance, embracing failure, trusting your innate wisdom and starting over. I fundamentally believe in every person's ability to recover from trauma, addiction and life, in general. Experience has taught me that no one is really avoiding anything. When people accuse you of not dealing with something, what they are really saying is you aren't dealing with it the way they want you to. From my perspective, if you wake up every morning and breathe in and out all day long, you're dealing with your stuff. A tiny bit of intention is all it takes to begin healing.

Our gathered thoughts about any situation play a critical role. Our attitude and perception over an extended period of time determines overall state of mind, that in turn affects our outlook on life. Unresolved issues, focusing on our down falls, over thinking about past events, determines our present life situation, our coping mechanisms, our choices and relationships. You deserve to feel connected and safe in your closest relationships. It is lonely, painful, and frustrating when those relationships aren't going as you'd like. You may be confused about how to help a child who is struggling. You might wonder if you're making the right choices for your child and you may even worry that you're a bad parent. Or, maybe you feel disconnected from a partner. You long to feel close to the person you care about, but years of hurt and bottled up emotion make it difficult to know where to start.

Art Therapy Therapists
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
