Hello! I'm Dr. Harriet Singelyn (she/her) and I provide online therapy to women in Texas who are looking to increase their self-esteem, manage anxiety and depression, and cope with perfectionism and burnout. Sound familiar? You struggle to set boundaries and identify as a "people pleaser", often putting others needs above your own. You worry about how you are perceived and often overthink after socializing. You're a perfectionist who holds themselves to a high standard, and no matter how hard you work, you feel like you're not good enough. You feel burnt out, depressed, and want to feel relief so you can live life to the fullest!

One of the things I most prioritize is the strength and security of our therapeutic relationship. I’m excited to work together with you as you move in the direction of your goals for a flourishing, authentic life. Along the way, you’ll find that my style is empathetic, warm, curious — and sometimes even humorous! I am social justice-oriented, and I have been frequently acknowledged for my ability to form a holistic understanding of systemic issues that individuals are facing, balanced with their most immediate concerns. My approach to counseling is eclectic, and most deeply informed by the NeuroAffective Relational Model.

Are you asking what is my purpose? Harmed by your religion?- now you miss the feeling of connection with something bigger, maybe even simply your own spirit. -not who you became in order to please others. I offer day long nature intensive retreats. This gives you an opportunity to dive in deeper in a shorter amount of time with the assistance of Nature. Let's uncover any trauma that has been holding you back and gotten in the way of your freedom. I believe in connecting authentically, with an open heart, and assisting you in accessing your own intuition and inner guidance system.

I integrate EMDR, Brainspotting, NARM, AEDP, and attachment-based work to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that had to shut down in order to cope
I work especially well with creatives, entrepreneurs, high-functioning adults, and people who have done years of talk therapy but still feel stuck in old patterns. Clients often come to me when insight isn’t enough and they need deeper, embodied change. My style is steady, attuned, and collaborative.

I am a level 2 practitioner of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy ( AEDP).
We don't have to go through it alone. Even when we feel stuck and overwhelmed, meaningful change is always possible. I take a solution oriented approach that applies evidence-based techniques for exploring and shifting old patterns of feeling and thinking that are getting in the way of growth. Employing curiosity and compassion, we can heal wounded parts and build new connections to your authentic self. A primary focus of my couples work is to practice new ways of communicating our needs more effectively with both our partners and ourselves. I also specialize in supporting the unique concerns and strengths of the LGBTQIA+ community.

My natural approach to people is very humanistic. A core value of mine is to be compassionate, non-judgmental, and accepting toward others. I value authenticity, warmth, and kindness when connecting with my patients. We can work together toward self-exploration, insight, and growth. Such change often happens in a context of a loving and caring relationship with the therapist, and an emotional exploration of significant experiences and relationships. I tailor my approach towards the unique needs and personality of each patient.

Over time, you’ve experienced stress or even trauma. Maybe you found comfort in school and work, but still fear failure, criticism, or not being enough. You’ve achieved many goals, including ones set by society without your consent, yet still you hold yourself to the standard that you must do it all. You want to better understand what’s holding you back, learn how to hold boundaries, and be free of harmful (often systemic) powers that burn you out, but where do you start? You deserve fulfilling relationships where you’re supported, meaningful and sustainable work, and a life aligned with your values. You don’t have to go it alone.

I enjoy working with folks who are looking to explore their relationship and attachment patterns. Most of my clients have learned to mask, perform, or self-abandon to be in relationships. Or try to avoid them altogether. You may have experienced dysfunction in your family of origin or previous significant relationships. We work together to understand and process the parts of your identity that you had to develop to navigate and/or survive these past situations. And then we begin the process of reconnecting with your true authentic self, identifying needs, developing healthy boundaries, and building fulfilling relationships.

I come from a depth background and use an approach that marries IFS, IPNB, AEDP, and Somatic attachment practices.
Calling all people pleasers! Does everyone think you're perfect, but it feels like your world is falling apart? Are you doing all the things, yet can never catch a break- or a breath? You have this deep knowing that there's something missing, but you can't put your finger on it. Are you ready to connect with your inner wisdom?

You don’t have to keep doing this alone. Maybe you’re feeling stuck, disconnected in your relationships, or overwhelmed by emotions you can’t seem to shake. You might be someone who’s always relied on your intelligence, creativity, or drive to succeed—but right now, something isn’t working, and you’re ready for real change. I help individuals and couples understand the patterns that keep them stuck and learn to relate to themselves and others with more clarity, self-compassion, and confidence. Together, we’ll look at what’s happening beneath the surface and help you to move forward in a way that feels authentic to you.

We can’t get around suffering sometimes in this life, but we can learn to live with dignity and grace, and we can absolutely know joy. Whether you are having questions of a spiritual nature, feeling stuck in your life, or needing to be free of abiding pain, I stand ready to walk with you on the path of healing. I can say this with confidence because I have made this journey myself. My own experience with therapy helped me to understand that human beings are not machines that break and need to be fixed. They are beings that course correct; they mold and are molded by their environment.

AEDP Therapists
Who is AEDP therapy for?
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?
People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?
Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?
AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
