Is your relationship in trouble? Does every fight go the same way? Is your relationship with your kids like walking on eggshells just trying to avoid a blowup that happens anyway? Are you or your spouse battling addiction? Are you personally struggling with feelings of hopelessness, depression, or anxiety? Chances are patterns have developed in your life and relationships that are creating problems for you. You may feel like nothing you try to fix the problem is working. But patterns can be changed. Things can get better. I can help you with that.

What you have come to experience as "normal" doesn't feel normal. You hope there is a way to be happy. Maybe you were before this happened. You've developed coping skills to protect yourself and get through. Sometimes however, the protections have created new problems. You may have become someone you don't recognize: anxious, lethargic, angry, scared, sad, detached, unmotivated, passive, too eager to please. The list goes on. It can be hard to see past the world we're immersed in, gain clear perspectives, and make needed changes without help.

Life does not discriminate -- it presents all of us with challenges, adversities, and opportunities. Sometimes going through difficult experiences allows us to emerge with a renewed sense of self and a fresh recognition of our inner strengths. But this kind of transformation isn't a given. Sometimes pain is unrelenting and pushes us to find new ways to cope and new avenues for understanding. Seeking help shows your courage and your motivation to find your way...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure..." My work with clients revolves around the truth that we are all born perfect and worthy of love. Traumatic experiences may have taught you that closing off your heart is safer or creating defenses protects you from being hurt again. You may hold core beliefs about yourself and the world such as: “I am worthless and unworthy of love”, “the world is not safe”, “people I love and care about will leave me”. I will guide you as you break free from the past, feel safe and calm, and begin to live fully in the present.

Clients often describe my presence as calming and supportive, noting that our work together has led to meaningful change. For some, this transformation came after years of therapy that offered insight but lacked actionable steps. EMDR is a powerful tool that provides clients with the resources to achieve lasting change. I am trained in EMDR, the Gottman Method, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. Additionally, I regularly attend advanced training in Complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, and relationship dynamics.

I am also a certified emotionally focused couples therapist and I specialize working with couples hurting from infidelity and betrayal.
I didn't just attend a training program or read about recovery from a book but rather I personally lived "the life" and worked my own recovery. Who is better able to help you than a counselor who knows what you are struggling with and knows what it will take to heal? Recovery is hard work and requires perseverance. I will help you and your partner heal!

Infidelity Therapists
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
