I believe in making the most of the time in our lives, with the people in our lives, even when those experiences are clouded by inevitable challenges. Often, it’s difficult to reflect on what exactly we need to thrive in each season of life-thats where I come in. Everyone has the ability to lead a happy and fulfilling life & therapy is a powerful tool in that journey. It takes setting goals, gaining insight into patterns in our lives, exploring solutions, and changing our habits & behaviors to fully achieve wellness.

I specialize in mood disorders and OCD but work with a wide range of clients.
My ideal client is someone open to exploring new perspectives and ideas in a safe and mutually respectful environment. I believe therapy works better with more engagement, so my ideal client is active in their therapy sessions. Active therapy clients also seek additional resources and opportunities for growth and practice between sessions. Active clients bring ideas and concerns for discussion rather than looking for simple instruction. My ideal client is collaborative, open, and honest.

Are you someone who struggles with intense anxiety and unsure of why the things you’re doing to work through it like cleaning, getting reassurance, telling yourself to stop, isn’t working? In relationships do you find yourself unsure of how to respond to conflict or keep finding yourself in the same position with a significant other? Have you had something in the past that has triggered fear responses or an internal reaction of something that reminds you of that event? If any of those are you, I want you to know that I work with these cases on a daily basis and would love to get to know your situation more personally.

We long for meaningful connection, understanding, and support from our closest relationships. All too often, we find conflict and alienation instead. Perhaps an "Other" has taken your place in a relationship: pornography, a physical affair, an addiction. Or, maybe, your greatest struggle is relating to yourself. You become aware that something foundational and deeply personal is wrong. Feeling lost, you wonder how life led you to this uncomfortable place.

How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
