Dealing with life's challenges can become overwhelming! We all do the best we can with what we know - but sometimes we need different approaches and/or more tools to be successful and find balance in life again.

The majority of my work involves helping people with complex, remote trauma and abuse exposure, surviving narcissistic abuse, eating disorders, grief, & women's sexuality.
I value the role faith & spirituality plays in self-evaluation, change, growth, healing, relationships & success. I practice from a family systems perspective, helping people discover hindrances holding them back from living a life they love. Counseling is a powerful support resource, especially when wresting with the challenges & the unexpected that life has a way of throwing at you from past to present. I hope you'll consider letting me support you in healing, designing & creating a life you can love living. Ask me about incorporating yoga & art into counseling. Additionally, I offer an empowering Women's Sexuality service.

Therapy is a place to share, discover, and heal. Everyone has their own experiences in life that influence who they grow up to become in this world. I take pride in providing all with a safe space to share their experiences, discover more about themselves, and heal from anything that may prevent one from being their best self. Whether things seems perfect or everything seems to be falling apart, talking to someone is always a good idea. My goal is to ensure all of my clients gain the tools they need to live the life they've always wanted to live, emotionally and mentally.

Growing up, you had to deny parts of yourself in order to be loved. Maybe you grew up in a family, culture, or religious background that rejected aspects of your identity, so you learned to repress or abandon parts of yourself in order to fit in. In adulthood, you find yourself struggling to form deep connections with yourself and others. On your hardest days, you might even question whether you’re lovable at all, or if maybe you’re too broken to ever fully feel whole.

My areas of specialty include first responder/veteran PTSD, substance abuse, trauma, and mindfulness. I am EMDR trained and have extensive experience utilizing EMDR to resolve trauma associated with first responder experiences, accidents, grief/loss, military combat, childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, and more. My work, as well as my personal life, is grounded in mindfulness. When we train our attention to stay in the present moment, we become much more aware of the stories we tell ourselves and how much suffering we experience as a result.

I help provide women with a calming space to heal.
You are a woman who has been devastated by grief over pregnancy loss, infertility, or postpartum depression or anxiety. You desperately want to find someone to talk to about how alone and sad you feel. You feel heartbroken, ashamed, and angry lately. Your world has stopped while everyone else seems to be moving on without you. You find yourself having the same fights with your partner over and over again. Society glamorizes pregnancy and motherhood which can make you feel even more alone and misunderstood. If you see one more pregnancy announcement or social media post about the happiness of motherhood, you might lose it!

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
