I have 16 years of experience helping youth and adults address ongoing struggles with anxiety, depression, academic challenges, ADHD, self-harm, childhood trauma, relationship challenges, and self-esteem.
Have you ever found yourself thinking, "Wow! I am really in over my head right now." or "Shouldn't I be able to figure this out?" What about questioning how others seem to manage while you feel like you're falling apart? I want to assure you that you're not alone in these thoughts and feelings. It's possible to find peace and confidence in yourself, even during challenging situations or crises, and to feel confident knowing you'll know what to do when difficult emotions and situations arise. Sometimes counseling can provide a little extra support to help you truly feel equipped to handle what life is throwing at you right now.

Have you discovered that you are lacking in motivation? Confused or completely lost when it comes to your own personal purpose in life? The number one symptom I have noticed in the past few years is that people lack motivation and purpose. That might be because of trauma, grief, personal issues, or any number of events and relationships. The goal of therapy with my clients is to increase awareness, renew motivation, and rediscover purpose that aims at a better, more authentic future.

I have over 10 years of experience working with teenagers, adults, and families in a variety of contexts.
You may be exhausted from carrying the weight of anxiety, anger, low self-esteem or depression. An all too familiar place where you feel burdened by shame and that you’ll never be enough. Maybe managing your daily life seems impossible and you’ve realized that you’re coping in ways that only seem to dig you deeper into your shame and are hurting the people you love. You’re not alone. I work with people to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and how their experiences shape them. Through a lens of compassion, honesty, and curiosity, we will see how understanding your past carves a pathway towards healing, hope, and restoration.

There's not a one-size-fits-all when it comes to growth and healing. If you're struggling with focus and attention, there are solutions. If you have a child who is experiencing difficulty or barriers to growth, this is a safe place to problem solve and heal. Having difficulty with immigration/re-integration to the States? I get it. If life is hitting you differently than you planned- there's a way to come out of it stronger.

My ideal clients are adults in Texas who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, anger, and complex relationship dynamics—especially those navigating family conflict or estrangement. I am happy to take on couples for the Couple Reset- an approach to couples counseling that can reset expectations and get you closer to communicating with each other rather than at each other. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but internally struggling with stress, irritability, emotional burnout, or unresolved pain from family experiences.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
