You’ve worked hard to build a successful life, but something still feels off. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. Perhaps you continue to date the same type of person, struggling to not feel anxious, or working to build a life in sobriety that feels meaningful and sustainable. You may be tired of white-knuckling your way through life, trying to handle everything on your own while wondering why things still feel harder than they should.

In my 30+ year career, I enjoy developing therapeutic relationships with my clients and helping them figure out what needs to change and how to most effectively, and efficiently do this. People are resilient and often know what needs to be done, but could use help identifying the steps and having non-judgemental support in carrying them out. I love people and I love my job. Let me help you figure it out.

Do you find that anxiety, relationship conflict, or chronic stress are hard to overcome? Do you notice any patterns? Do the same arguments repeat? What do you notice as distance grows in your relationships? You may be managing neurodivergence, a chronic health condition, or the weight of complex family dynamics. You are curious about where these patterns come from and are ready to honestly examine your role in them. You are looking for a therapist who can understand your full context. I work with marginalized populations (i.e., LGBTQAI2S+ or Latine/a/o) and Monolingual Spanish-Speaking (Terapia Bilingue).

Are you struggling with life changes, or emotions that seem out of control? Sometimes in life we need help sorting out problems and finding our way to the best solution. This is the reason I pursued a counseling career, after working as an educational professional for over 30 years. My experience in education provides me with knowledge of adolescent behaviors, goal setting and addressing family/parenting issues. I’ve honed my counseling skills to also be of help in adult issues such as grief & bereavement, life changes, motivation, as well as depression, anxiety and substance use/addiction disorders.

My ideal client is someone struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, or chronic pain who has not found sufficient relief from standard treatments. They are thoughtful, motivated, and seeking a medically grounded option rather than a quick fix. They want to understand their symptoms, feel safe during treatment, and work with a physician who takes their concerns seriously. Their goal is meaningful improvement—greater clarity, emotional stability, and the ability to re-engage with life—while remaining connected to therapy and ongoing care.

I empower my clients to realize their optimum self through growth and discovery of their strengths and innate qualities. I believe that to be successful in our lives, we need to notice what works for us and transfer that insight into the areas that we would like to better. I often combine the use of solution-focused brief therapy (SFT) with narrative therapy since it helps in writing a better future for ourselves and creating hope for tomorrow. We decide our path and take the steps towards our new future. My clients are multidimensional and range in age.

Do you find yourself overthinking, carrying a lot inside, and even more, feeling stuck in the same patterns, especially in relationships? I work with teens and adults who are thoughtful and self-aware, but feel like something isn’t clicking (or stopped clicking). Many of the people I work with are dealing with anxiety, relationship stress, or patterns shaped by past experiences that keep showing up in the present.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
