Healing and making life changes is what therapy is all about. I work with adolescents and adults using approaches encompassing spiritual, cognitive, behavioral, insight, and EMDR to make this happen. EMDR is a physiologically based method of therapy I use with many clients who have post traumatic stress, disturbing memories, anxiety and/or a history of abuse. This ranges from trauma experienced by veterans of wars, crime, and natural disasters to childhood emotional and physical abuse to varying degrees. Together we will match your therapy needs with the optimum approach for your healing and facilitation of change.

I’m primarily a cognitive behavioral therapist — I help you explore your thoughts and core beliefs to gain clarity and find solutions. I facilitate observation of narrative and finding meaning in your experiences and the complexity of life. People usually seek my services when they are at a crossroads, are dealing with relationship conflict, difficult family dynamics, emotional turmoil, or want to overcome past trauma. I currently see around 25 individuals per week in my work as a clinical counselor with a human rights organization since January 2022. From April through September 2024, I am doing Online/Video therapy only.

I work with adults & couples to lessen anxiety and depressive symptoms & increase self-esteem. In sessions, we'll trade panic for peace to decrease anxiety and depressive symptoms. Looking to feel more like yourself? Talk to a therapist who gets it. I believe that your story is more than just symptoms. My research focuses on the psychological impact of media on self-esteem, so I can help navigate those pressures as well. Couples, exhausted by the same arguments? Let’s break the cycle, turn conflict into connection. Together, we’ll move from defensiveness to openness, and create a safe space for deeper intimacy & understanding.

Do you often feel lonely in a crowded room? Do you find yourself getting caught up in reckless choices—chasing a fleeting sense of aliveness—only to end up feeling empty and isolated? Have you worked hard to live up to expectations, only to realize the life you’re living doesn’t feel like your own? Often times the behaviors that cause us the most pain and disconnection from ourselves and our relationships are motivated by self-protection. My hope is to co-create an environment of relational safety where you and I can honor and release the defensive strategies that you've outgrown.

My goal as a Counselor is to help you let go of the resistance that keeps you stuck, whether it's from PTSD, depression, anxiety, limiting beliefs/behaviors, or a bad relationship; stuck in ways that are destructive to you and/or your family. I believe in taking time to focus on communication skills and the many dynamics of "relationship", relationship to self, partner, family, and coworkers. This includes learning self care as well as setting healthy boundaries with others. You are someone ready to make some changes and do things differently.

Anxiety, depression, and personal conflict are not always signs of illness, neurosis, or flaws of development, or character. Many times healthy individuals find themselves in internal struggles that are related to important growth points in their lives. These are periods of potential growth based in crises of values, spirituality, and expansion of self. Such crises are reflected in questions of a deeper, spiritual, or existential nature which the individual is asking, or in general non-specific feelings of unease, dissatisfaction, or depression. I provide help aimed toward psychological development and personal growth.

The path of progress comes from collaboration in an atmosphere of cooperation, education, and insight. Whether our stress is around our internal needs, people close to us, or with the state of the world, the counseling relationship is about accessing and utilizing your innate ability to learn and grow from where you are into the better life you seek. Covid-19 has disrupted nearly all our connections with friends, family, work, and community. This has brought out the unfulfilled need for connection in relationships already stressful, and has inspired people to find creative ways of strengthening connection.

I practice what I term Integral Personal Growth Work....integrating body, mind and spirit. I embrace the belief that each of carries within us the capacity for healing, growth and the recovery of our original birthright for wholeness. My work is intended to facilitate and cooperate with what is already "wanting to happen" with-in each of us. I seek to address early damage, emotional deficits and developmental traumas that can block our capacity for full aliveness leaving us consciously and unconsciously locked into coping patterns that often inhibit our becoming all we can be and celebrating the gifts that are our true essence.

Identity Support for Burned-Out Men & Dads/ Finding Balance. You are feeling unfulfilled, lost, and hopeless. Life's meaning and purpose seems elusive, if not completely unknown. Your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about yourself are extremely painful, though you know that it's not right, you can't shake the feeling that they are true. The truth is: nothing is wrong with you. The truth is that you have been hurt and still have wounds that have never been properly addressed with nurturing and love. I can help you learn to love wisely. My clients find that my compassionate and direct conversational style helps them feel at ease.

You are aching to live a more authentic, fulfilling and empowered life, yet you are struggling to know how to proceed. I get it. I have been there. We build lives on foundations based in old programs, expectations, and beliefs and then when we feel the call for something more, we can feel stuck, anxious, depressed, or guilty. The life we built no longer suits us and we need help navigating change as we rebuild. Perhaps a relationship, a career, a midlife awakening, or loss, has triggered a longing for something more meaningful or fulfilling. Or maybe, something less- less drama, less stress, less anxiety, less soul sucking.

If any (or all) of the following descriptors relates to you and what you're going through, I want to be your counselor. You are transgender/gender-diverse trying to navigate a world that doesn't want you to exist. You are a college student so burnt out that everything seems unmanageable. You grapple with your faith in a society that twists your religion into a tool to harm. You are witchy or Pagan and find divine insight in the Earth below and the Sky above. You want to understand what your dreams (or nightmares) are trying to tell you. You are autistic/neurodivergent, surrounded by people who refuse to understand you.

Transpersonal Therapists
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
