It seems like so many of us desperately struggle to understand why we keep repeating the same patterns, especially when we know they are hurting us. And when we are deeply self aware, it makes change feel even more out of reach. Whether it's addictive behaviors, stuck in unhealthy relationships, or being weighed down by past trauma, I believe healing begins when we feel safe enough to honestly engage what’s behind our unwanted actions with compassion, grace, and dignity. My role is to help you slow down and reconnect with what’s been lost in order to take steps toward the real change you’ve longed for.

Stigmas frighten us and sometimes prevent us from moving forward and receiving the help that we need. Understanding who you are and your mental health can help you feel centered and connected to your inner you. Learning to recognize symptoms, warning signs, and triggers to daily concerns, can create an understanding that helps you empathize with yourself and others; and lead you feeling comfortable functioning in your everyday life.

High-performing on paper, yet running on low energy? I help men and women—often professionals of faith—reduce anxiety, find meaning in life transitions, and connect to their clear purpose. My clients tell me they’re ready to do the hard work that actually supports them, gives hope, offers breakthroughs. I work with adults in their later 20s through 50s who are capable, self-aware, and often the folks others lean on, but are now needing to take care of themselves. I’ll help you sort through all the overwhelm and start living a life aligned with what's most important to you—all the things and people besides your job.

At times, everyone feels overwhelmed by stressors, life transitions, grief or anger. Change and healing doesn't happen in isolation and we all need help at some point. My approach is strongly grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT). Clients are encouraged to identify what’s important to them and learn ways to move toward their values. Addressing how thoughts drive feelings and behavior and creating new ways to relate with our thoughts and feelings. I'm always amazed and privileged when clients report that a different perspective has greatly altered their lives for the better, especially in the midst of tremendous life stressors. My approach alligns evidenced based research with each individual's goals to improve both emotional well being and connections.

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
