I believe in creating a safe and trusting relationship between the client and therapist. Therapy can be hard work and getting started can be scary, however making art and stimulating creativity can ease this process. As your therapist, I will encourage you to use your creative imagination as a vehicle to understanding your inner turmoil, psychic pain or stagnancy. Along the way we will be implementing these effective tools in cultivating a more fulfilling life experience. Main office line is 972-544-6633.

I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy ( PCIT).
Sometimes we carry emotional wounds so quietly that they begin to feel like part of who we are. We learn to keep moving, care for others, show up, and push through while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted underneath it all. I created Haven of the Sea to be a space where children, individuals, and families can feel supported through life transitions, trauma, parenting challenges, and emotional experiences that can sometimes feel unexpected and hard to put into words. My goals in session is to provide an opportunity for us to slow down so that you can feel understood and empowered to improve your quality of life.

Stigmas frighten us and sometimes prevent us from moving forward and receiving the help that we need. Understanding who you are and your mental health can help you feel centered and connected to your inner you. Learning to recognize symptoms, warning signs, and triggers to daily concerns, can create an understanding that helps you empathize with yourself and others; and lead you feeling comfortable functioning in your everyday life.

Clients often come to me after hitting a wall with other therapists or approaches. In our work together, they’ve finally felt movement, connection, and the beginning of real healing. I strongly believe that when we grow into being able to be fully present with ourselves, we are able to reach our goals. I have experiences working in a variety of settings, from partial hospitalization to outpatient, in both individual and group therapy. You don’t have to perform or be anything other than human with me. Together, we’ll work towards relief, clarity, and self-understanding to empower you.

The most important aspect of therapy is a trusting relationship in which one feels valued, understood, recognized and seen. I work with people who want to understand the connections between past experiences and patterns in their current lives to have more satisfying relationships. The people I work with want to feel connected to others, repair past relationships, participate in corrective and reparatory experiences, understand their feelings, actions and thoughts, and be at peace with themselves. Many suffer from depression, anxiety, trauma, body image or eating, and find themselves in challenging periods of transitions.

Maybe you've spent years pushing through. You stay busy, take care of everyone else, and tell yourself you're fine—but underneath you're exhausted. You may feel anxious, emotionally disconnected, always on guard, or like the past still controls how you think, feel, and relate to others. Whether you're struggling with childhood trauma, painful relationships, grief, or experiences you've never talked about, healing is possible. As a trauma therapist, I help adults, teens, and many men who have spent years believing they should simply "get over it." Together, we'll create a safe, supportive space that is at your pace.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists
Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?
PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.

How long does PCIT last?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.

Can PCIT be done online?
PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.

Does PCIT help parents?
In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
