If you're newly postpartum, life now is likely very different. Whether you're in love or feeling disconnected, you and your body have been through a lot. It's not uncommon to find ourselves comparing our situation to someone else who makes it look so easy keeping their house clean and looking like they just got out of hair and make-up on a movie set. If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, obsessions, compulsions, or the stress that comes with a major life change... I am here to help you feel like yourself again and navigate this new chapter in your life.

I use Brainspotting and a psychodynamic approach in my practice.
Hello! Hola! I’m Rubyth Renteria, a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work with adults, teens, and children who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in patterns, or disconnected from themselves and others. Many of the people I work with appear high-functioning on the outside while internally feeling anxious, burned out, overwhelmed, or stuck in unhealthy patterns. Some are carrying unresolved trauma while trying to hold everything together. Add in the pressure of “¿qué van a decir?” and family or cultural expectations, and it can feel nearly impossible to slow down without guilt.

If you call me, please leave a voicemail so I know you are not a robot and I can call you back. I work on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I love working with adults who are craving real, authentic connection in therapy. My space is intentionally queer-affirming, nonjudgmental, and rooted in curiosity — a place where you can show up as your whole self, however that looks, and explore your thoughts, feelings, patterns, and lived experiences without fear of shame, rejection, or the need to explain your identity.

I integrate Brainspotting, DBT skills, mindfulness, and expressive arts to support both emotional processing and practical coping.
I work with young adults ages 18–30 who are struggling with the lasting impact of trauma, especially in relationships, self-worth, and everyday emotional overwhelm. Many feel stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, loneliness, difficulty trusting themselves, or feeling deeply affected by childhood trauma, family-of-origin wounds, and attachment wounds. I especially enjoy working with college students, recent graduates, and young professionals who are navigating independence and learning how to build healthier relationships.

I specialize in evidence-based methods like Brainspotting and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to help you "unplug" the root causes of PTSD, anxiety, chronic, and emotional pain.
Instead of just learning to live with your symptoms, we work to process the emotional pain at its source. This approach helps recalibrate your nervous system so that old memories or physical discomfort no longer trigger a "mental alarm" in your daily life. My goal is to help you move from simply "coping" to true resolution.

With over twenty years experience doing EMDR combined with Brainspotting, CBT, solution focused and sand tray therapies she has been able to help clients change their lives.
Are you genuinely curious about the unhelpful and unhealthy patterns that keep showing up in your life and relationships? Do you ask WHY you are such a people pleaser, WHY you take things so personally, WHY you have trouble opening up to others, cannot seem to get in touch with your emotions, feel bad about setting boundaries or communicating your feelings, etc. etc. You first need to understand the WHY behind how you think and feel and then you can learn new skills and strategies to break through the cycles.

You may look like you have it together on the outside, but inside you’re overwhelmed, anxious, overthinking everything, or exhausted from trying to keep up. Maybe anxiety won’t turn off, perfectionism keeps you feeling like you’re never doing enough, depression leaves you feeling isolated, ADHD makes everyday life feel harder than it should, parenting feels exhausting, or you feel alone in your marriage. You may be struggling with relationships, stress, trauma, or a life transition and aren’t sure how to move forward. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Brainspotting Therapists
How does brainspotting work?
Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?
Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?
Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?
A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
