Hello, I am Esteban Salazar. This is an opportunity to let it out and to collaborate with someone educated and trained to help people through their problems. I will take the time to listen. This is a safe place, I am an adult. I have been in the US Army, I have worked construction, and I have counseled since 2010. You will not say anything that will make me blush, offend me, or pass judgment. The most important thing is to feel free to be yourself. Masks come off once the session starts. I mostly use CBT, DBT, and SF. I comply with all ethical and legal regulations to protect your privacy. I look forward to working with you.

Adulting is hard. Being a kid is hard. Being human is hard. Having access to all of the world all of the time is hard. It’s overwhelming and everyone has an opinion. And sometimes it can just become too much. Every stage of life comes with what seems like insurmountable obstacles. This day and age with the seeming constant comparison to a perfect social media life can leave one feeling impossibly more than less than. Sometimes we just need a little help. A place to sit with our reality without the judgement or the press to have it all.

You’re the person everyone can count on. You put others first, work hard to get everything “right,” and carry more responsibility than anyone realizes. Maybe you struggle to say no, feel guilty when you prioritize yourself, or hold yourself to impossibly high standards. It's hard for you to let anyone in, or admit that you need support. You're a helper, a fixer, the one who always handles things. You feel unseen or unheard. Perhaps you've spent much of your life feeling different, misunderstood, or like you don't quite belong. You're tired of the same patterns keeping you stuck and of thinking the same spiraling thoughts.

I'm Gottman Method-trained, EFT-informed and hold certifications in DBT, Psychodynamic Trauma (CCTP), and Grief (GCP).
The quality of our lives is largely determined by the quality of our relationships—with our spouses, our families, our colleagues, and ourselves. When those relationships become painful, strained or repetitive, therapy can help uncover what's keeping you stuck and open the door to lasting change.
Maybe you've spent years being the one who holds everything together. On the outside you function well. Inside you're exhausted, disconnected, or frustrated in the same pattern. Therapy isn't about becoming someone different—it's about understanding what's been driving your suffering and creating a life that feels more like yourself.

I believe counseling & therapy should be a space where you can show up as you are, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. I work with people who want to better understand themselves and create change that actually lasts. This looks like exploring patterns in your relationship with substances, food, or your body, or making sense of deeper questions around identity, meaning, and spirituality—including past religious experiences. I bring a mind-body perspective to build awareness and tools that fit you. I’m simply another human sitting with you, offering curiosity and a steady presence.

Anxiety, depression, and relationship issues take a toll on everyday life. They can lead to counter-productive coping strategies such as substance use and may even further complicate your interactions with others. While these concerns have become all too familiar in our society, the experience is uniquely personal. Symptoms vary widely from persistent stress and worry, mindless habits (i.e., endlessly scrolling the internet), trouble sleeping, lack of motivation, irritability, fatigue, and loss of interest. Fortunately, there is hope as these types of issues are treatable—change is possible.

Living in constant alert mode is exhausting. I help people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, panic attacks, PTSD, ADHD, relationship stress, or loneliness. When these struggles become part of your daily life, you may begin to wonder what it would feel like to finally feel steady instead of constantly bracing for the next wave of stress. Their minds are busy, their bodies tense, and their thoughts difficult to quiet. They are tired of simply coping and want to feel more grounded, connected, and in control of their lives.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
