I understand that reaching out for help, especially after experiencing trauma, can feel like a daunting and vulnerable step. I want you to know that you are not alone, and you are in a safe space. My role is to walk with you through your healing journey, with compassion, patience, and unwavering support. I believe that healing is not linear—it’s deeply personal, and it unfolds in its own time. My approach is rooted in understanding, and I take the time to listen to your story and honor your experience without judgment. Together, we will work at a pace that feels right for you.

I specialize in working with teenagers who are experiencing anxiety, perfectionism or the pressure to keep it all together. I provide a space where teenagers feel heard and not judged - a place where they can breathe, process, and learn tools to feel more in control of their emotions and their lives. I also support parents and children through the adoption journey - from preparing for placement to navigating complex emotions post-adoption, including attachment, identity, grief, and building trust within adoptive relationships.

Therapy modalities aren't a one size fits all, but a language we all understand is laughter. I have a slightly confrontational style to therapy, as I will challenge you when something doesn't quite add up, but I'll also be your cheerleader. I use many analogies that sometimes I come up with completely on the spot, some from TV/movies/music, and I am also chronically online so TikTok. You are in the driver seat of your life and I am passenger princess as I help you with the navigation system, no matter if it's depression, anxiety, trauma, or ADHD.

Do you feel unseen or unheard? Maybe you feel like you don't quite belong? Or maybe you don't feel anything at all? Maybe you feel like you just aren’t "good enough." You might feel frustrated, confused, or guilty about why you lash out at those closest to you. Maybe you feel like you have been faking it through life and hiding behind your busyness. You may feel stuck in relationships and avoid conflicts so you pretend like things are fine. Maybe you are just scared to take up space and speak up for yourself. Is childhood or complex trauma keeping you isolated, trapped, and disconnected? Therapy can help you live abundantly!

I get it and understand that you can be going about your life as you’ve known it to be and boom, life happens! Life throws you a curve ball. I know what that feels like, we all do in some capacity. I was living my life as I knew it and boom, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The question you have to ask yourself is, do I lie down and be defeated or do I get up and keep going. I know it’s not easy. But if you’re looking for a safe space to express yourself, talk out some things, wanting someone who will listen, ready for a change, I will be more than happy to walk with you through the process. Let’s work and heal!

I think that everyone deserves to feel better. Unfortunately life happens and throws us a curve ball. This can leave us feeling out of sorts. We try to put our life "back together" as best we can seeking help from family or friends. Sometimes this is not enough. This is where I come in, helping you find a way to make a run even if life pitches you one curve ball after another. At times it will be difficult and you may feel like you struck out but with practice, guidance, and uncovering inner strength you can make a run maybe even a homerun.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
