Additionally, I understand the impact of choosing to be a parent, and the struggle when infertility and loss get in the way.
Hi there! I know how scary it can be to reach out for help. With close to 20 years of experience, I feel lucky to provide support to children, adults, and families on their healing journey. I get as much from the relationship as my clients do from their own growth. I provide therapy from a humanistic, developmental perspective, meaning I focus on your past experiences and your current stressors to help you feel peace. Our relationship is the most important part of therapy, so I strive to create a warm, safe, and compassionate place to help you grow.

One of my passions is working with clients who have experienced the roller coaster of emotions associated with infertility and/or pregnancy loss, perinatal depression, anxiety and other mood disorders.
Life can often be hard and unexpected challenges can happen to anyone. I believe that having the support of someone in our corner can help us discover our unique qualities so we can emerge from difficulties stronger than we ever thought possible. I will provide a compassionate and supportive environment while we embark on your journey of growth and healing. Taking this first step is often very difficult and I invite you to contact me and see if counseling is right for you and if I would be a good fit for your needs.

I also work often with adults and teens to provide support though the myriad of concerns and struggles that arise throughout life with infertility being one of my specialities.
Regardless of age, I typically operate from the client-centered perspective in which I believe that you are the expert of you and that with support, encouragement, and guidance you are able to determine what fits best for your life and your situation. Essentially, I do not follow a one size fits all approach and understand that we are all unique.

I began my journey as a therapist at Community Mental Health in a rural town in Arkansas after earning my Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2004. For eight years, I worked with marginalized populations, many of whom had experienced trauma and abuse. My work included outpatient therapy and two years in a residential program for chronically and seriously mentally ill adults under court-ordered care. This experience allowed me to work with individuals of all ages in a variety of settings, including individual, family, couples, and group therapy, often addressing crises.

I believe healthy relationships are the key to living a happier and more fulfilling life. There's no denying that relationships are hard, especially when life throws unexpected obstacles our way. Relationships are complex, whether it be the relationship you have with yourself, or the ones with your parents, siblings, partner, family members, friends, or co-workers. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or stuck. Perhaps you are feeling disconnected, frustrated, or unappreciated in your relationships. Or you might be on a journey of personal growth or seeking to strengthen your relationships, but are not sure where to start.

You’ve tried to hold it all together for a long time. Maybe your mind won’t stop spinning, your relationships feel tense or disconnected, or life just feels heavier than it should right now. You replay conversations, second-guess yourself, feel guilty setting boundaries, and wonder why the same painful patterns keep repeating. Your faith might feel more tested than steady lately, or maybe you’re exhausted from trying to figure everything out on your own. Deep down, you know you can’t keep carrying it this way forever. Therapy with me is about more than just venting and returning the next week feeling stuck in the same place.

Infertility Therapists
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.

How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.

What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.

How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
