I specifically have a heart for clients who are navigating/processing their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. I am passionate about supporting individuals who are working through religious trauma or questions. You know that saying “Never judge a book by its cover”? Well, I can honestly say that the cover of my book does not match the pages! The pages in my book of life have equipped me with the experience to connect with ALL people. In my book, I’ve encountered many conflicts. I’ve been the antagonist and the protagonist and I’m just in the rising action. Because my pages are not all filled with butterflies and sunshine, I’ve had to work to find ways to help equip myself with daily coping skills. I am happy to be in a position to share my experience with others through therapy and educational opportunities.

Adjusting to life-changing conditions or illnesses can lead to anxiety and depression for both patients and caregivers alike. Chronic pain, fatigue, or cognitive decline may leave you feeling like you're searching for purpose. These conditions may have you struggling to cope with new limitations, different expectations, or changing roles leaving you feeling overwhelmed. As a caregiver you may be hoping to find tools to manage your stress, learn strategies for engaging with your loved one, or to process your own grief.

One of my favorite parts of therapy is learning what it's like to be you, and helping people finally feel like their thoughts are untangled. I believe every individual enters therapy with strengths and resilience that already exists in them. You hold the map and I help you navigate the terrain, clarify your goals, and uncover what you already possess. I love working with female survivors of "...", you fill in the blank! Abuse, trauma, infertility/miscarriage, insecurity, self harm, perfectionism, etc. I also love working with teens and kiddos over age 6.

Sometimes as we go through difficult seasons personally or in our relationships in life, dark thoughts can begin to arise: “How did I get here?”, “I can't do this any longer.”, “What’s the point anymore”, and it goes on. Being lost in these questions and the darkness can be so consuming that we reach a point to where we don’t even recognize the person in the mirror anymore. I am here to tell you, you don’t have to fight that agonizing fight alone. I want to turn this dark season of life to illumination of purpose, uncovering truth and strength.

None of us should have to face life’s journey alone. As we grow and enter new stages of life, things that worked for us in the past may no longer serve us well. Sometimes the challenges of life call for new responses. Counseling can be an opportunity to explore the rules, boundaries, and expectations that we have acquired over time and consider new possibilities.

You may feel pulled in different directions, caught between the part of you that wants change and the part that feels too stuck or tired to try. Or maybe you carry painful beliefs about yourself, feeling like you should “try harder,” “just stop it,” or already have everything figured out. Shame might whisper that others have it worse or that your struggles don’t matter. You are human, you are not alone, and the parts of you that feel overwhelmed deserve care. If you long for safety, security, and peace within yourself and your relationships, we’ll work together to help you feel more connected, confident, and at ease.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
