As a LPC, my job is to help you navigate: coping skills, premarital/ marriage counseling, communication, conflict resolution, divorce recovery,
family
conflict, identity, self-worth development, infidelity, life transitions, anger management, anxiety and fear, grief and loss, depression, personal growth, codependency, and pre-teens/teenagers.
My goal is to walk alongside individuals, couples and families to see how to best help in their time of need. I work hard to help provide hope to those who are hurting, and believe the only way to experience true change, is for God, to ultimately change a person's heart.

My areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma,
family
of origin issues, couples counseling, relational stressors, children/teen counseling, life transitions, grief, spiritual/identity issues, negative self-talk, challenges with boundary setting and religious trauma.
Welcome and thank you for exploring my profile! The process of therapy begins with hearing your story and the things you are struggling with. I hope to provide a non-judgmental, safe place where counseling care is contextualized to meet your needs. I believe that what we do flows from who we are. And when we experience various traumas/stressors in our life, there is a chance we can internalize them and believe unhealthy narratives about ourself and the world. While learning coping skills/practical tools are important, I have learned that working through the core/root issues are where long-lasting healing takes place.

Whether you are dealing with issues as an individual, in your marriage, or within your
family
there are times in people’s lives when it becomes unmanageable and too much to carry alone.
I strive to combine a warm, engaging, relational style of counseling along with an ability to challenge clients about the issues they face. I am passionate about working with individuals and families as we navigate through the mountains and valleys of life together. As a faith-based counselor, and an ordained minister, I have been privileged to help many people deal with their emotional needs by being sensitivity to core issues, recognizing how crisis and trauma affect their mental state, and by relating to individuals, couples, and families where they are. Together, we will find the right therapeutic interventions to help you.

Coming from a dysfunctional
family
, with a father who was disengaged in my life, I know what it's like to suffer from the "father wound.
God never intended for us to face the problems in our lives apart from Him. He desires to be involved in the process of bringing about healthy and holy change in our lives. Jesus said that "Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." I strive to base my counseling approach firmly on Scripture. The Bible is God's perfect, powerful, life transforming and saving word. God has spoken, definitively, regarding all areas of our lives. He indeed has the answer for whatever your problem(s) may be.

I know that it is tough navigating this life of uncertainty, especially when life is not going "according to plan". Life is messy, human relationships are rarely just black and white. Sometimes we need help understanding ourselves and the people we love. If you deal with individual internal conflicts (anxiety or depression) or external conflicts (stressors with
family
ADHD-Strong Willed-Children, or
family
partnerships) and seeking to empower yourself and live a more fulfilling life, I am ready to journey alongside of you.

I have worked in a youth and
family
clinic, a domestic violence & sexual abuse outreach center & provided in-home crisis counseling for at-risk youth and their families.
Welcome to the first and most courageous step of therapy - looking for help and support. I consider myself a compass helping adolescents, adults, families and parents by guiding them in the direction of health and well-being. People are already whole and complete. Sometimes life experiences, circumstances, illness and relationships can impose clouded judgment, maladaptive behavior, poor self esteem and obstacles from achieving what we truly desire and deserve. My approach is educative, supportive, trusting, safe, evidenced based and healing. Most importantly, I customize treatment plans unique to each client and at their pace..

Keith’s primary area of focus is Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). However, he also has experience working with teens and adults, and has received training to work with groups and families. Keith finds Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) to be a particularly fulfilling way of working within the
family
system. During the pandemic Keith gained training and experience working through multiple Tele-health platforms. He also has experience using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), but he primarily views counseling through a holistic Person-Centered perspective.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
