How do you define manhood when there’s no manual? What do you do when you want to be a good partner but feel like you keep mis-stepping? As men, sometimes we need a space to talk about what manhood means to us. We need a space to feel seen, heard and validated. We need a space to talk about life’s successes, challenges, and fears. We also need a space for accountability. I am passionate about supporting men who struggle with anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues.

I am a licensed master’s-level social worker who studied at the University of Texas at Austin's Steve Hicks School of Social Work. My experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings with adult and adolescent populations has helped to inform my systems-based approach to therapy. This approach views behaviors not in isolation but as part of a system of factors where solutions require a holistic approach.

You don’t have to stay stuck. If you’re looking for a therapist who’s laid‑back, real, and genuinely committed to your growth, I’m here to help. I bring a relaxed style and a sense of humor, but I’m serious about your goals and the future you want. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, so I focus on creating a comfortable, judgment‑free space where you can explore what’s holding you back and move forward with clarity and confidence. My mission is simple: help you become the strongest, most grounded version of yourself. My approach is practical, down‑to‑earth, and tailored to real life—not textbook perfection.

I believe that our struggles with mental health can often make us think we are outside looking in. Different. Broken. The Black Sheep. When we learn how to change our view of our unique challenges or experiences, they can become strengths and lose their power over us. I have experience working with clients who struggle with multiple mental health concerns ranging from depression, anxiety, substance, and trauma to figuring out who and what their identity and purpose are as they make changes in their lives.

If you’ve ever felt different, overwhelmed, or like the “black sheep,” you’re not alone. Many people I work with feel on the outside looking in—overthinking, questioning themselves, or carrying things that are hard to let go of. I help you better understand your experiences and recognize the strengths you already have. The goal isn’t to “fix” you—it’s to help you make sense of what you’ve been through and move forward in a way that fits who you are. My approach is collaborative, direct, and focused on building practical tools for change, using CBT, ACT, and solution-focused approaches tailored to you.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
