Examples of experiences you are possibly facing may include depression, anxiety, acceptance, trauma, and relationship issues to name a few.
I understand that in life you want to be the best version of yourself. I also recognize that being that person can be difficult when you are dealing with circumstances that affect you negatively. Whatever you are experiencing can affect your relationships, career, school, daily lifestyle and so much more. Asking for guidance from a therapist does not mean you are a weak person. Seeking guidance represents strength because there is a commitment to self-improvement and well-being.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help work through complex trauma, and I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) to help with sexual and other behavioral addictions.
Counseling is a process in which the client and the counselor come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life, and work in a systemic fashion toward realizing those goals. I have worked with clients on a variety of issues and have specialized in helping those with depression, anxiety, anger, codependency, sexual addictions, and sexual identity issues. I see such issues as symptoms of something deeper and my goal is to work with you to uncover those root issues.

We utilize a trauma informed approach combing evidence-based interventions.
Sometimes life throws a lot at us and we don’t always ask for help when we need it. Stress can come from various places and often even hides making it difficult to see what’s coming until it’s right on top of us. This can lead to emotional challenges which can cause a feeling of instability and a sense of being lost. Being here now is a big step in the process of healing. Together we will work to create a safe space for you and/or your loved ones to create support and establish skills needed to bring stability and balance back into your life. We will help you tap into your inner abilities so that you can be your most authentic you.

With over 15+ years as a mental health provider, family therapist, educator and researcher, I specialize in trauma-informed and culturally responsive supervision for counselors and therapists in training and AAMFT Supervisor Candidates.
Hi! My name is Sofia, and I provide systemic supervision for LMFT Associates and LPC Associates in Texas. If you are (a) interested in learning more about systems theory and relational approaches and/or (b) you are looking for a more "high-touch" supervisor, someone who will invest time in building a relationship with you as both a human and a clinician, we could be a great fit. From the very beginning, I offer lots of resources (guidance about navigating work dynamics, mentoring, marketing, continuing education) and I help build up my supervisees' confidence, helping them learn to market and promote their skillset. :)

My experience extends to individuals and groups in diverse settings such as community mental health clinics, trauma and grief centers, women's centers, substance abuse agencies, crisis centers, and my private practice.
Do you struggle with chronic anxiety and stress? Is the trauma of your past affecting your present functioning? Has depression caused you to lose the joy and happiness you once had? You don't have to continue suffering in silence. I am here to help you manage these challenges, improve your coping skills, and provide emotional support along the way. As Psalm 25:11 says, "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver." Sometimes, we hear the right words at the right time. I can offer you those words, along with the space, time, and resources you need most.

Hurtspeaks Wellness Center specializes in providing individuals with the necessary tools to begin recovery from loss, change, and trauma.
Trauma is what happens, but grief is what lingers. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just exhausted. If so, there is a high probability that your heart has been broken from some sort of loss either recently or long ago. You may have experienced the loss of a loved one, a divorce, or the break-up of a romantic or important relationship in your life. You may have developed an awareness that your life is not as happy or fulfilling as you want it to be. Regardless of the hurt you’ve experienced, you know how you feel, and it probably isn’t good. You also know you want to feel better, but you're not really sure where to start.

I work with clients aged 15+ facing complex trauma, anxiety, suicidal ideation, generational trauma, complicated family dynamics, emotion regulation difficulties, and life transitions.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by past trauma, anxiety, or struggling with life transitions? You are not alone, and I’m here to help. As your counselor, I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. I integrate a Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and Trauma-Focused approach, using techniques like Brainspotting (BSP) and Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to support your healing journey. These methods can help process deeply rooted trauma, shift negative thought patterns, and empower you to find a sense of calm and control.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
