Trauma can be the root of the problems in our lives. I am a clinical social worker experienced in trauma including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, life threatening situations, grief/loss, and other traumatic events. I am highly experienced in the most common diagnoses including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and adjustment issues. My therapeutic philosophy is: build trust, develop a therapeutic relationship, and work together to develop treatment goals and a plan to successfully meet those goals.
As a clinical therapist and previous mental health provider, I have worked for several years providing social service and supportive guidance to a diverse population of clientele, in various settings, to face challenges presented by mental health disorders, emotional/behavioral problems, and oppressed/at risk environmental factors. I also received specialized training in the areas of trauma, neglect, and sexual abuse while completing my internship at The Children's Assessment Center of Houston. Along with my independent practice, I currently provide contractual therapeutic services for Children's Assessment Center of Houston and Harris County District Court STAR Family Intervention Program.

I believe that a trusting relationship between a therapist and client is essential towards one's progress. The therapeutic relationship can offer an empathic and collaborative way to explore change within yourself and your environment.
I can help with problem solving, identifying strengths and weaknesses, learning better ways to communicate with others, learning coping skills, and also provide you with social support.
I believe that it takes a tremendous amount of courage to seek out counseling. I also believe it is extremely helpful for all people. I am very passionate about guiding people through transitions of life, the inevitable curve balls that life can throw as well as dealing with issues and trauma that plague us from our past.
I help my clients gain clarity on who they are, what they want, and how to explain it to others by asking them questions to unlock doors they didn't even know were there. You talk, I listen. I point out reoccurring themes I notice in our sessions, perfectionism comes up a lot for my clients, and we explore whether or not those beliefs are helpful to you. If they aren't, we explore your beliefs and find another point of view, another perspective that is also true but helpful and nourishing for you. I like pointing out your strengths and reminding you of your past successes and skills which can be applied to your current challenges.

Maybe it's the heart racing, tightness in your shoulders and chest, sweaty palms or clouded mind that get in the way of feeling like yourself. Finding yourself avoiding or distracting from these situations? I hear you! I welcome you to not deal with that on your own.
