Using evidence-based interventions such as, Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), etc.
During these trying times, it is easy to experience feelings of despair, anxiety, and depression, which can be stressful and overwhelming. This can lead to frustration, unfinished projects, and unaccomplished life goals. I can work with you collaboratively in a warm, welcoming, and safe therapeutic environment to help you achieve personal growth, balance in body, mind and spirit and help you reach your desired life goals.

The Katy DBT Center follows in the tradition of the Houston DBT Center in striving for excellence of care and precision in treatment of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). We require all of our therapists to be experienced and well trained in the implementation of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence-based, modern behavioral therapy originally developed to treat individuals with the then "difficult" symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Due the the advent of DBT, BPD is now a good prognosis diagnosis and individuals receiving DBT treatment may expect to eventually no longer meet criteria for BPD.

Anxiety, low spirits, panic, mourning, anguish, loneliness, indecision, uncertainty, etc. The causes can be countless, but there may be something similar in all of them: the attempts to solve these problems are no longer enough. That is my invitation: the search for relief, which enables movements, changes, and improvement in those who start a therapy. A commitment to life, desire, and own well-being.

You’ve tried everything and nothing seems to ever change or get better. Is this just who you are? Is this just the only life you’re ever going to have -feeling alone all the time, struggling to make relationships work or struggling to belong somewhere? It seems to be the hardest thing in the world to find connection. On top of this, you have a voice in your head screaming at you for constantly failing or not being good enough, you can't stop the anxiety, you can’t sleep, you can’t stop numbing yourself, you can't find any peace. It’s just one bad feeling after another.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS!! I have expertise in helping children, adolescents and adults recover from traumatic experiences/events in their lives. In order that we strive and move forward despite whatever obstacles we might face in life, we must instill the concept of RESILIENCY in our children, adolescents and adults. Resiliency teaches us to continue to move forward despite the obstacles we face. In order that we achieve our goal of promoting resiliency and community within the family, we found it most effective to provide a service that would make a difference not only in the homes of those we serve, but also in our communities.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
