Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Northeast Texas. After a rewarding career as a teacher and public school counselor, I made the decision to start working as an LPC and I have never regretted making the change. What I have learned from both careers is that building mutually trusting relationships is important for solving problems and creating change. Open communication within our relationship will allow us to move forward with treatment options that will truly work. If anxiety, depression, trauma, or other issues are keeping you from living your best life, it is time to take the steps towards healing and peace.

Are you currently riding the "struggle bus" of life? You're definitely not alone! Life is full of challenges, constant change, and sometimes, overwhelming feelings of anxiety, sadness, and hopelessness. Unfortunately, all of us will go through hard things if we live long enough! We will experience life stressors such as: grief when loved ones die, and traumatic events that shape the way we view ourselves and the world around us. If we are self-aware and have developed great coping skills, we will adapt and change in a healthy way. Or, we may turn to unhealthy habits to cope that lead us to more suffering.

My goal for the counseling relationship is that you, the client, and I, the counselor, will develop trust with one another, work as a team to define and explore present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life, and work toward those goals. While my counseling philosophies are informed by a biblical worldview, I will in no way pressure or require you to uphold my morals, values, or religious beliefs. As the client I respect your value/belief system and will ask that you inform how that is incorporated into counseling.

I help anxious women navigate dating, attachment, people-pleasing, and relationship uncertainty. Together, we’ll make sense of your patterns, unpack your childhood and learn coping skills, so you can feel more secure, grounded, and confident in your relationships. You may be exhausted from carrying everyone’s needs, questioning your own decisions, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy can help you build confidence in yourself, strengthen boundaries, and create healthier relationships.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
