I believe that most people want to learn ways in which they can lessen the amount of stress in their lives. A person's thoughts and feelings can often stay trapped in the negative issues of the past or be pushed forward to the concerns of the future. These two states of mind can invariably lead a person to experience depression and anxiety. Learning new techniques that allow the person to put aside the problems of the past and worries of the future allows the person to fully engage themselves in the present and capture the joys of the moment, bringing a state of happiness to their life.

I am big on expounding on your goals, holding space for accountability, and assisting you in developing a plan that meets you exactly where you are. Let’s just say I am the passenger in your vehicle or the caution sign you pull up to during traffic.

I offer in-person and Telehealth sessions most weekdays and select evenings as needed to accommodate client needs.
Life can be hard. Sometimes it feels like you’re getting sucked into a black hole. Maybe it’s depression, anxiety, PTSD or past traumas, grief, current relationships, substance use, or life piling one thing on top of another—whatever it is, you’re looking for a change. And you deserve it! You are worthy of peace, love, and healing just as you are! I would love to help you figure out your goals and how we can work together to meet them.

I provide therapy sessions in person or online via Telehealth.
I am inspired to support professionals who are capable, motivated, and care deeply about doing well—yet feel anxious, overwhelmed, or worn down by constant pressure. Over time, stress, anxiety, or low mood may begin to affect your sleep, focus, relationships, or ability to enjoy your accomplishments. Therapy here is a supportive, collaborative space to slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and develop steadier ways to care for yourself—so work and life can feel more manageable.

will provide in person for children.
Greetings, my name is Julie Peterson, and I would love the opportunity to brighten your family's life. Understandably, life can be challenging at times, so let's work together through those times. Healing and growing come from working together towards a common goal. Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a social worker with children and their families. My experience ranges from working with children as young as four to adult clients. Children are my specialty, but I'm willing to use my skills to help anyone.

I and our team offer "homey" atmosphere sessions in-person alongside additional holistic therapies for an integrative healing experience.
I believe in each client’s potential and unique creativity. Your mind and body are designed to heal. I seek to help clients connect and return to the natural and healthy design of rest and digest and grow coping tools when faced with being in a fight or flight mode. Hope is a critical force in the healing process. “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness,” Desmond Tutu. Being able to connect to the present with honesty, transparency, and non-judgment is a key ingredient to understanding oneself and embracing the healing journey. Make sure to book with me on my website.

I am currently seeing clients in-person in my Arlington office and via telehealth throughout Texas.
You look like you have it all together, but inside you're exhausted from overthinking, anxiety, ADHD, perfectionism, or always putting others first. If you grew up with emotionally immature caregivers, you may understand your patterns but still feel stuck repeating them. Together, we'll heal the deeper wounds beneath those patterns, regulate your nervous system, strengthen self-trust, and help you build healthier relationships and a life that finally feels like your own.

Have you spent most of your life taking care of others, putting your own needs aside because you had to step into the role of a parent at a young age? Now, as an adult, you find it difficult to set boundaries, prioritize yourself, or even know what you truly want. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, lost, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, I want you to know there’s hope. You don’t have to carry the weight of those responsibilities anymore—there is a way to reclaim your life and find a healthier balance.

Change can be difficult for people but wanting to feel better is a start. I believe that change is possible and that people can adjust and live up to their fullest potential. As a licensed professional counselor-supervisor (LPC-S), I believe that providing a non-judgmental, supportive environment for clients to fully express and explore their feelings, thoughts, and struggles is essential. Typically, I use a range of counseling approaches, including trying new coping skills, such as emotion regulation, to identifying and processing your thoughts to see how they may affect your feelings to exploring acceptance and how that may fit into your life.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
