When relationships feel intense, distant, or unpredictable, your nervous system adapts. You may find yourself overthinking, shutting down, pulling away, or feeling like you’re “too much.” What once helped you cope may now be creating the very disconnection you’re longing to change. Therapy is where we slow that cycle down and create something steadier. Many of the struggles that bring people to therapy — anxiety, conflict, betrayal, anger, emotional distance, or persistent self-criticism — are rooted in attachment patterns formed early in life. Together, we make sense of them in a way that helps you feel safer and more regulated.

People often come to counseling feeling exhausted from carrying something that hasn’t
gone away—anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship struggles, or ongoing life stress.
Sometimes people begin to wonder if they should be coping better than they are. I work
with adults and teens who want to reconnect with hope, resilience, and the parts of
themselves that may have become buried beneath the struggle. Together, we can build
practical skills and create a path forward that feels meaningful and sustainable.

I primarily work from a person-centered framework. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship strongly and believe patients are the experts in their own lives. I don't believe it is my job to act as an expert on my patients, but that I come in as an expert in creating a safe space for them to explore and get in touch with their true self. I integrate CBT and mindfulness techniques as well when helpful, especially with individuals struggling with anxiety or depression.

My journey into therapy began with a deep curiosity about how people heal, adapt, and grow through life’s challenges. Over time, working with individuals facing stress, trauma, and major transitions reinforced my belief in the resilience people carry, even when it feels out of reach. Life transitions, stress, and emotional overwhelm can feel isolating—but support makes a difference. As a Licensed Professional Counselor–Supervisor, I help clients deepen self-understanding, strengthen coping skills, and move forward with intention. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on meaningful, sustainable growth.

We begin by building a strong foundation in understanding your protective system, honoring the parts of you that have worked hard to keep you safe. Once self-regulation skills are in place, we move into reprocessing traumatic experiences from a grounded sense of safety. This process deepens insight into what happened, highlights your resilience, and, through self-compassion, allows you to release what no longer serves you and reconnect with your purpose, relationships, and authentic self.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
