Everyone has problems with living at one time or another. How we think, perceive, feel and behave in responding to life’s demands impact our functioning and none of us do it well, all of the time. Life is complicated and many things interact and influence mental health. Struggles may be manifested as a variety of psychological symptoms and health problems. I am a veteran with 28 years as a clinical psychologist working in and with law enforcement, military and veterans. I also work with people who are aging and have chronic health problems such as diabetes. My goal is to help you live a life that is meaningful to you.

Being human is hard enough. Finding a therapist doesn't have to be. If you are overwhelmed and looking for someone you can open up to without feeling judged, hi... I'm Ruby! I bring humor, honesty, and genuine connection. I don't do the "blank stare" therapist thing. I pride myself on being myself and want to make you feel as comfortable as possible!
I work clients who tend to:
Overthink everything
Chronically people-please
Worry they are "too much"
Feel like they have to be "the fixer"
Carry weight that was never theirs to hold
Never got to be the kid

My name is Omar Sandoval and I could have been a statistic. The persistent financial, social, and inter- and intrapersonal adversity I experienced coming from a low socioeconomic status single parent home could have defined me were it not for hope, discipline, education, luck, and my hobbies. Instead, I am a Mexican-American English/Spanish speaking Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor practicing since 2017.

Rachel's areas of strength are trauma focused, anxiety, anger management, and depression.
In our first session, we will get to know one another. We will discuss your background and how you reached your decision of taking the step towards being a better version of yourself. We will work together to set up goals that you would like to accomplish within the first three months. Next, the client can discuss any additional areas that they would like to focus on for their treatment. I love working with clients that want to put in the work outside of therapy. Therapy is not easy, but as long as the common denominator is consistency then the mindset will be able to focus on the positivity.

Common issues: stress, burnout, anger, anxiety, ADHD patterns, relationship conflict, life transitions, and leadership challenges.
I lean towards targeted therapy with clear, measurable goals. Sessions are active and directive: we define targets, build small experiments, track progress, and untangle barriers. I blend CBT/ACT, skills, habit design, and communication tools so you leave each session with a plan or at least something new to chew on, and the accountability to follow through.

Narcissistic Emotional Abuse-Nothing makes sense anymore. Two plus two no longer equals four.I search, find nothing.I feel like I'm going 'crazy.' "You're imagining things! BUT YET, I know they are doing the very thing they say they're not doing.I keep second guessing myself.I want a simple life, yet nothing is simple anymore.Everything is just plain CrAzInEsS.If you can relate to any of these situations, you most likely are involved with a narcissist, are being emotionally abused and need help. Are you feeling hopeless, worthless, lost and confused?

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
