Life can be wonderful, interesting, challenging but no one ever said it would be easy! Never before have we faced such a difficult onslaught of problems affecting our work, school, social and even medical aspects of our lives. The good news is that counseling has never been easier to access. Our friends tell us what we want to hear, counselors tell us what we need to hear and give us the tools to make changes to help us on our journey. I have been a counselor since 1991 and am just as passionate about my work today as the day I started.

If you're tired of feeling like roommates, frustrated with repeating the same argument, and exhausted with talking about how you need better communication with no real results, or if you're just feeling "stuck" in your relationship, couples' counseling is for you! Your marriage matters and it shouldn't always be "hard". Couples counseling can give you the insights, skills and a safe place to feel heard and understood. Couple's therapy is a place where both partners can slow things down, feel seen, and begin making shifts towards the relationship you want.

Therapy does not have to be a beatdown. Healing and growth can be demanding, exhausting, and have high stakes. Having support, a clear plan, and reliable evidence-based approaches adapted to your unique situation can sustain hope through the hardest times and bring changes that feel impossible within reach. You are the expert in your own life. Change is most meaningful and lasting when we are supported in discovering our own insights and solutions within the safety of compassionate relationships. My first goal is to help create a safe place for you to have a voice and access your natural capacity for healing.

I offer virtual only counseling at this time. Your decision to find a therapist to talk to is brave, and can also be overwhelming. Life is full of situations that can leave you with sadness, anxiety, depression, or simply feeling lost. My experience is most people seeking help are trying to get through a difficult challenge or need assistance coping with life. I personally believe that it is in your power to learn skills to not only survive hard times, but to emerge stronger than you thought was possible.

Anxiety can make it hard to slow your mind down. You may find yourself overthinking conversations, feeling emotionally exhausted, struggling to relax, or constantly worrying about relationships, work, or the future. Even when things look “fine” from the outside, it can feel overwhelming internally. I work with teens, adults, and couples experiencing anxiety, ADHD, stress, intrusive thoughts, relationship challenges, emotional overwhelm, depression, and difficulty managing intense emotions. Many of my clients feel stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, shutting down during conflict, irritability, or overthinking.

I specialize in OCD and sex therapy, and where the two overlap. I work with obsessive themes of all kinds— from germs to relationships and existential concerns. But if you’re anxious about the types of thoughts you’d prefer to never tell another living soul— like hurting people, pedophilia, sexual orientation, incest…that sort of thing— I’m definitely the right therapist. That stuff is my speciality. You’ll be surprised how easy it will be to talk to me about it.

I see kids, teens, and adults who are bright, thoughtful, and exhausted from trying to hold it all together, hoping testing might bring answers. Maybe no one has truly seen them. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, burnout, or some religious trauma, and maybe they wonder if ADHD or autism explains lifelong patterns. They need clarity, validation, and practical next steps: and zero judgment. Their goal is to understand their brain, reduce shame, and function with more ease. They want answers so they can stop blaming themselves and start living confidently and authentically. I'm a trained neuropsychologist and here to help.

You deserve to feel GOOD-- Peaceful, happy, grounded, and content. Fulfilled in your relationships and joyful in your life. Sometimes we take a look around and even though we "should" feel all those things...we don't. Therapy is a safe haven where you can feel heard, understood, and validated. We'll dive into the stuckness and help you navigate your way out of it. My goal is to provide an environment where we can openly process your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors without fear of judgment, and you can leave feeling empowered, confident, and free.

Clients coming from a faith background of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( Mormon) find it helpful to work with someone who understands LDS teachings and culture.
My clients are responsible people (maybe too responsible!) who are looking for relief and balance. Self-help books and tips only take them so far, and somehow there's a "root problem" that still seems evasive. They want to thrive, not just survive, but cognitive approaches are not getting them there. I specialize in helping competent but exhausted people find greater peace through getting to the "root" of their issues so that shifts are lasting.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work together effectively, but, especially for those whose concerns relate to their religion or cultural background, a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond, even if they do not have an extensive history with or understanding of their client’s background before therapy begins.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Church of Christ/Latter Day Saints values?
Each individual brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of therapeutic modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition such as LDS that strongly influences the conduct of everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process.

Why might someone feel comfortable with an LDS-attuned therapist?
While qualifications and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic effectiveness. It is wise to find a therapist who is responsive to your questions and concerns and with whom you feel you can establish a rapport. A therapist who is sensitive to LDS values and beliefs and the role they play in the lives of Church members can offer Mormon clients a welcome sense of safety, assurance that their community and culture will be understood, and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, all of which support the therapeutic process.

How do I recognize a good LDS therapist?
LDS therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Mormon principles and values. They have an understanding of the culture and the important role the Church plays in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of emotional difficulties those raised in the faith can be prone to. Like all effective therapists, a good LDS therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of everyday life.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Mormon/LDS therapists?
The directory of LDS therapists includes therapists who have shared their cultural background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information; these individuals would not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with LDS clients and/or communities, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
