I specialize in therapy for
women
dealing with postpartum depression, family related conflict, and anxiety.
I believe that each individual has the strength and potential to live the life they have always dreamed of living! I am passionate about working with children and families. I have particular interest in helping stressed families deal with challenges associated with parenting and family dynamics.
I truly believe that individuals know how to solve their own problems, however, they may lack self-confidence, support, or the courage to do so. Anxiety catches us and fear holds us, but we are not destined to live a life without hope!

I understand the struggles of being a
woman
, wife, daughter, aunt, and sister and all the hats we wear in those roles.
There is no roadmap to guide us through life. When things happen, there is no set of instructions on how to emotionally navigate various situations. Let’s face it: adulting is not easy, no matter what age you are! Life can get overwhelming sometimes. Having someone to talk to during these difficult times of life’s stressors and transitions means you don’t have to carry the weight alone. Whether you are experiencing stress, emotional pain, relational struggles, or just need support, I am here to help.

Have you noticed that your way of thinking, feeling, or doing things isn't quite the same as others in your life? Perhaps your body language, social skills, interests, behaviors, or general preferences don't seem to match others? Or maybe you have a child who was recently diagnosed with autism, and you recognize some of the same characteristics in yourself? You might even suspect that you have autism spectrum disorder, even though you never received a diagnosis as a child. A diagnosis of autism as an adult can come as a surprise.

I love working with people with ADHD. As a person with ADHD myself, I recognize the varied impact it has on your life. I love working with teens, young adults, and adults. I have worked with people with new ADHD diagnoses as well as longstanding diagnoses. Perhaps your life has been filled with the phrase "Why don't you just..." followed by some very unhelpful advice. Perhaps you experienced a lot of negative feedback that led to feelings of being less than others. Perhaps you have some shame around that. Let's talk!

Society tells us what to feel, enjoy, experience, and what is beautiful. Screw societal norms and expectations. Let's break those barriers and create new norms. Want to try kink, poly, or open marriage? Great! Let's find the best way to do it! Feel that panic growing during confrontation? So do I. Let's find healthy ways to reduce it. Having relationship problems? We all do, no one is perfect; but we can learn to communicate better. Overweight? Me too! I'm beautiful and so are you!

I welcome the opportunity to help motivated clients develop skills to change their lives, accept life when necessary and discern how to use wisdom in everyday life. Emotions and daily struggles can often feel so overwhelming that we operate in patterns of behaviors that are difficult to break. With the help of insight through deep processing, emotion regulation skills, mindfulness and distress tolerance and consistent practice to apply these tools, depression, anxiety, and many other underlying mental health conditions can be managed.

NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS!!! Sometimes a past traumatic experience can resurface at a time that we are least expecting it. Finding friends and family members who are supportive can become difficult. We simply don't feel heard or understood. Life can also continue to throw unexpected situations in our way that we do not feel ready to face. I love working with clients who are trying to find themselves in different stages of their life. I have experience working with clients who have past trauma, divorce, martial disagreements and blended family conflict.

As humans we all experience various types of adversity over the lifespan. I believe these challenges can be an opportunity for healing, growth, and renewal. As a professional counselor with over 20 years of combined experience, I recognize how difficult it can be to be vulnerable and seek help. I create a warm, compassionate environment where you are able to be yourself, as I assist you in processing your feelings, gaining self-awareness, and exploring unhealthy patterns of thinking, behaving and relating. I work with you to reimagine and achieve the healthiest version of yourself within your relationships, workplace, and family.

I have a passion for helping children deal with big emotions. Children, often, do not have the ability to verbally express their feelings in words, and, therefore, my preferred approach is child-centered play therapy, which utilizes play as a medium for self-expression. Child-centered play therapy allows a child the freedom to process through the complex emotions they are experiencing, in a safe, contained space, and within a therapeutic relationship. Typically, children being able to communicate and experience their feelings in the playroom will alleviate the behavioral concerns that may result from emotional distress.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
