I work with EMDR, SFBT, Mindfulness Meditation, and Existential Therapy to address the needs of the people I work with. PTS is naturally occurring whether from childhood experiences or as an adult. It has been my privilege and honor to work with Veterans, First Responders and their family members through difficulties related to anxiety, depression , anger management, communication problems, self-medication, agoraphobia, social anxiety, and more. My job is to be fully present acting as a container for the release of issues as we uncover strengths and assets that are overlooked, forgotten or undiscovered.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples dealing with anxiety, depression , communication issues, as well as family of origin trauma.
This past year has been extremely challenging, tiring, and heartbreaking so perhaps, it’s time for a mental and emotional check-up. You may be dealing with feelings you’ve never experienced before on top of having to show up for yourself, friends, family, loved ones, and work. Life is hard on its own, not to mention having to navigate work, school, friendships and other relationships, family, and a pandemic. It can be overwhelming and spark fear, anxiety, depression , and conflict in everyone. Therapy can be a place where you recognize and confront those feelings and thoughts while also striving to be the person you want to be.

Processing, managing and resolving relational issues, Anxiety, Depression , and Trauma.
Adding to what you already have, our time will be spent doing what I call “adjusting the lens”: adding more depth—more clarity to whatever has been difficult to identify. Through the use of further psycho-educational knowledge, developing and practicing new coping skills, while having a safe non-judgmental space to process and grow. Your experiences, your story matters.

Clients I see are usually struggling with couple/relationship problems, parenting difficulty, blended family issues, anger, anxiety, adjusting to difficult life issues, and depression . Most clients are not enjoying life and want help making some changes and finding their way through pain, circumstances, and difficulty. About half of my client's are looking for a therapist who can identify with a Christian/Biblical perspective as well. I am currently only offering Teletherapy.

Using CBT, we’ll listen to how your brain has been negatively interpreting situations based on previous experiences in order to understand and change your depression , anxiety, suicidal thoughts, or substance use.
There’s some similarity between therapy and taking care of plants. Etiolation is a process that occurs in plants when they grow in an environment that isn’t suited to their needs. This process helps them survive in that specific environment but can make the plant weaker and more likely to experience future damage. Living with mental health concerns has likely affected you in a similar way, in limiting what you think is possible for yourself, how you’ve grown in your life, and stopping you from growing into the impressive plant you are.

Counseling is recommended for those that may be currently experiencing some type of unwanted or unmanageable emotional or "thinking" difficulty that requires the assistance of a trained mental health professional. Seeking counseling should never carry a negative stigma or feelings of shame. Counseling is a therapeutic process for individuals that may have diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health issues such as depression , anxiety, bi-polar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, or difficulty in building and maintaining heathy relationships. Coaching is recommended for those that are looking for less intensive guidance in assisting them to enhance their own personal performance.

Do you need help with an addiction? Are you having troubles with your marriage? Experiencing anxiety? Depression ? I am not the type of counselor that sits and stares at you and then asks you how you feel. I offer very workable strategies that you can apply to make a difference. I believe that what you think has an impact on what you do! It is important to process your thoughts and draw the correlation to your actions, healthy or unhealthy.

My specialties include grief and trauma, adjustment to disability, relationship issues, stroke and TBI, anxiety and depression .
Life can be wonderful, interesting, challenging but no one ever said it would be easy! Never before have we faced such a difficult onslaught of problems affecting our work, school, social and even medical aspects of our lives. The good news is that counseling has never been easier to access. Our friends tell us what we want to hear, counselors tell us what we need to hear and give us the tools to make changes to help us on our journey. I have been a counselor since 1991 and am just as passionate about my work today as the day I started.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
