I work with a wide range of clients and concerns. Anxiety, depression, past trauma, relationship struggles, and behavior difficulties in teens and children are among a few of the common issues I treat. I have several years of experience with play therapy as well as therapy with adults and teens. I see each client and their experiences as unique to them with their own needs and strengths. I am very open minded and non-judgmental and really do care about each one of my clients. I consider the relationship I have with my clients to be central their success.

I am Diana Loesch, I'm new to Texas, and I LOVE it. I have recently opened a private practice, The Happiness Warriors, and it is an exciting (and scary) time! I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2006, and I have worked with folks with a variety of concerns-anxiety, depression, trauma, codependency, and chemical dependency, from diverse backgrounds, ages, and cultures. Therapy should not be complicated - it's really about sitting down and talking with another person without feeling judged, talked down to, or being told what to do. My goal is to provide safe, nurturing, and effective psychotherapy to adult, adolescents, children, and families. I use practical and individually tailored approaches. With children and teens my approach is relaxed and non-threatening. I often use play therapy techniques such as: games, art activities, and sand tray. With older teens, adults and families, I strive to create an atmosphere of teamwork that allows clients to educate me about their lives and they changes they want.

I offer individual, couples, and family counseling. Are you wondering how counseling can help you? Sometimes life throws us a curve ball and a specific issue comes up. You and I would consider short term, solution-focused counseling as a strategy to work on your concern. Is there a relationship in your life that feels strained? Our counseling process would likely include working
to improve communication patterns and re-discovering the needs of all concerned. For more chronic issues like depression and anxiety, developing coping skills and improving self-talk and self-image can create significant relief in your life.

As individuals, we navigate through life with the tools that were handed to us through our family systems. Sometimes that's not enough to keep us on course for what we desire out of life. Relationships can be complicated, depression can be isolating, and anxiety can be crippling. Breaking free from the chains that mental health binds us to can be the most liberating feeling, why not try it out?

Relationships are hard. Only our closest loved ones, especially those we share a bed with, can stir up our most intense feelings of emotional pain, disappointment and shame. We often respond to these emotions with anger, withdraw, control or resistance which leads to conflict, emotional distance and the dreaded dead bedroom syndrome. Having disagreements in a relationship is expected. We all have our own ways of seeing, feeling and thinking about things including sex. The key to a healthy relationship is to be able to acknowledge the differences and communicate in a way that is genuine, supportive and understanding.

Having a baby is a huge life transition individually and for the family. Change can happen in an instant but navigating your personal transition in response to that change takes time so it is important to nurture yourself through pregnancy and postpartum. During the perinatal period, anxiety can feel overwhelming especially if you are having scary thoughts and difficulty regulating emotions. You are not alone and at times motherhood is hard. It's okay to make yourself a priority and be mindful of what you are feeling and needing. When we take care of ourselves, we are then better equipped to be there for others in our life.

Welcome! I work with counselors, parents, & high achievers looking to find joy and renewed energy - for themselves & the people they serve. I also enjoy working with couples and adult families who are having difficulty navigating current or past communication conflicts, terminal illness, grief & loss, parenting, boundaries, life transitions, and premarital work. You may struggle with self-care, perfectionism, over-giving to your work, taking your stress out on others, having difficulty completing tasks, or having difficulty staying present with others. You may feel "stuck", numb, drained, overwhelmed, anxious, worthless or guilty.

Gottman Method Therapists
How does the Gottman method work?
One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.
Is the Gottman method evidence-based?
Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.
How long does the Gottman method take?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.
Is the Gottman method effective?
Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
