My passion is assisting
women
, and
female
teens in the areas of depression, grief/loss, anxiety disorders, school issues, and life adjustment.
Are you feeling stressed, sad or overwhelmed? Have life's difficulties led you to withdraw from activities you previously enjoyed? Are you experiencing a challenging life transition? We all experience difficult personal times when we need to reach out for additional support. As your counselor, we will develop practical strategies, identify your strengths, and work together to begin moving you towards a more fulfilling and balanced life. My focus is on the client as a whole individual, rather than a diagnosis, addressing your physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.

*Does not take insurance* The main population I see is
women
and college students, with a few exceptions interspersed along the way (I’m looking at you, guys! I do work with men as well). I see 18+ only. I primarily work with college students who are working through all the things you would expect to work through in your late teens and early twenties! Anxiety, life transitions, depression, processing childhood trauma, processing your family and how it impacts you, relationship issues among partners and friends- the list goes on!

You've got it together, except inside you feel like you're slowly coming apart. It's okay to invest in yourself. It's more than okay, it's necessary. Life is too short to surrender to bad relationships, substances, or let emotions or trauma control us. Change happens when people are given the guidance and support, they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling joyful lives. I believe in playing the long game and you are worth having a better tomorrow.

New Evening Sessions Available! I provide counseling to children, couples, and families within a relational framework. I understand that people face problems in the context of relationships with others and our lives can be affected by outside influences. When your child’s tantrums feel overwhelming and frustrating, I help guide and direct you towards confidence in parenting. Since I apply Gottman Method Couples Therapy when working with couples, I support couples to build a deeper connection from arguments and anger in their relationship.

Your PEACE doesn't have to be limited. The devastation of betrayal, abandonment, divorce, disease, or death can change you instantly. Perhaps resentment, depression and anxiety are interfering with the quality of your life. Is ADDICTION keeping you in bondage? Trauma keeping you from experiencing life? If anything is preventing you from getting to a healthy place, maybe it's time to examine what your next steps will be. Don't allow fear, work, and life's hustle to keep you from having peace. FIND PEACE REGARDLESS OF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES. Life can get better!

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
