I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Texas and my Master's degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I have 39 years experience working with adolescences, individuals, couples and families through the educational system and now in marriage and family counseling. I am currently seeing clients virtually at my own practice, Genette Stanton Therapy, LLC in Montgomery, TX.

Brainwashed by our pain-avoidant culture, our egos try to boss our minds, bodies and souls around. “Quit crying.” “Get over it already.” But society's push to hurry up and get over it is inadvertently creating the pain paradox; people are being forced to try to “heal” in the trappings of shameful isolation. But if we still ourselves and allow our deepest, truest inner voice to be heard over the ego’s tyrannical whispers, we will come to realize that human suffering is NORMAL and not something to get over. Pain, no matter how subtle or severe, is a form of energy that demands to be acknowledged, befriended and even accomodated.

God is in our lives whether we want to admit it or not. He knew us before our parents did. He has a plan for our lives and he has known what our lifeline looked like when we were conceived. He also knows our “freshness date”...the date, the day, down to the minute when we will be joined again with Him. He knows us. Intimately. He has given us our temperament, how we are to be, and how we can be happy, it is a gift. When we go against our inborn temperament, we run into problems like physical ailments, anxiety, all of it.
