Accepting New Clients! - Our quality of
life
is directly linked to the healthiness of our relationships with ourselves, spouse, family, friends and co workers. I believe human beings are born with an innate need to be in relationship with one another and, for some, experiencing safe, connected, and intimate relationships can be a challenge. The purpose of psychotherapy is to support clients in a collaborative way to help remove barriers and roadblocks that may prevent them from living the
life
they envision. Ultimately, every person wants to be loved, to be heard, to be understood, leading to a more satisfying and meaningful
life
.

I can help you find peace with your past, motivation for your future, and the confidence to move through the obstacles that
life
throws your way.
Do you feel as though you will never have a healthy relationship: with your family? with your significant other? with yourself? with food? Do you struggle to love and appreciate the person staring back at you in the mirror? Do you feel stuck in habits that result in self-sabotage and feelings of shame? Do you feel unworthy or undeserving of stability or contentment, so you turn to unhealthy eating patterns, toxic relationships, or substances? Maybe the trauma you have experienced has not been managed effectively and you don't have the tools to heal and feel relief.

My therapeutic philosophy involves utilizing a holistic approach incorporating Gestalt and Adlerian therapies. As a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in athletes, children, adolescents, and young adults, I frequently work with clients experiencing issues related to poor sport or school performance,
life
changes during adolescence,
life
transitioning from college to career, parenting issues, sibling relationships, and divorce family transitioning. Topical issues may include low self-esteem , ADHD, transitioning from athletic identity, peer relationships, anger management, self-mutilation, eating disorders, and self-empowerment. A fundamental element in my approach is establishing the therapeutic relationship through rapport and building trust between the client and the therapist.

In my practice I focus on Freedom - The freedom to love and be loved authentically. In
life
we can be held back by obstacles we can't see as well as by obstacles we can see. I specialize in helping clients working to free themselves from those roadblocks. Successful clients have entered my office asking questions like: "No matter what I say, my spouse hears something different." "Why am I doing this, again?" "I've done everything I know, and not advancing at work," "Why won't these thoughts (fears) leave me alone?"

In my therapeutic work, I focus on helping people explore and gain insight into their unique
life
situations and then together we create a new
life
action plan with the goal being to increase resiliency and emotional health.
We are now living in times as difficult as any the world has seen in the past 100 years. I am committed to supporting the emotional growth of adults of all ages experiencing significant
life
changes. Through my work as a counselor, a professor of psychology, distance educator, and social science researcher, I know that empathy, science, reason, and action are all needed to help people overcome the pain and trauma disrupting their lives. I have worked with military veterans from three wars, clients dealing with injuries or illness, health care professionals, and parents striving to come to terms with difficult issues.

Life Coaching Therapists
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.
Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.
Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.
How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
