I have worked with a variety of issues including gender transition and coming out, depression/anxiety, parenting, trauma, self-harm, difficult family dynamics, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation, anger, defiance, and peer relationships, just to name a few.
Are you ready to heal from trauma or grief, set personal boundaries, gain coping skills and improve relationships? If you answered "yes," welcome! As your therapist, we will work together to set goals to achieve healing and mental wellness. This collaboration is one of importance as healing and self-betterment are difficult to achieve on your own. Remember- healing is not linear. It is up and down and back and forth and beautiful and hard. But also, magical. As we uncover your authentic-self, you will come to find peace within yourself that no one can take away from you. My goal is to empower you to discover all you are meant to be.

I offer individual, couple, and family therapy in my office and online for your convenience.
Are you in need of some "Me Time"? Perhaps you are experiencing work-related stress, school-related stress, or increased responsibilities and conflicts within your family or social settings. Maybe you're a professional caregiver or family caregiver and trying to find a healthy work/life balance to decrease frustrations and burnout. No matter which category you fall into it can sometimes become overwhelming to say the least. You exert so much time and energy giving and being kind to others, which is great! I'm for it! But, listen up, "DON'T JUST BE KIND TO OTHERS, BE KIND TO YOURSELF"! In other words, self-care is important too.

Areas of expertise include play therapy, child/teen counseling, family therapy and child-parent relationship training.
People often believe they have failed in some way if they or their child are in need of help. Conversely, it is your willingness to seek counseling, to do whatever is needed to help yourself, your child and your family that demonstrates the depth of your dedication and courageousness toward health. My hope is to provide you and your child an accepting environment, with a priority of safety, to facilitate your family members' ability to express themselves fully. Together, we will explore untapped resources, already possessed by you, to eliminate distress from your lives.

The way we look at and think about our lives has a profound impact on the way we experience our lives. It is necessary to shift our thoughts in order to effectively relieve anxiety, depression, and our inability to move forward from past disappointments and traumatic experiences. I utilize Cognitive Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. These approaches are offered within a setting of compassion and nonjudgment. I have found the integration of mental, spiritual, and physical experience important in improving psychological health and helping people connect with their own inner guidance.

I work with Exult Healthcare. I specialize in teen/young adult depression, trauma, and relational issues. I know how it feels to be a teenager in this fast-paced, demanding, digital age we live in. These days people are so much more connected, but this means there are more eyes than ever on a person. That is stressful. There are expectations for school, family , friends, internet eyes, and partners. Unseen, unspoken issues of abuse, family conflict, and peer relations are so prevalent in this age. I specialize in helping adolescents and young adults to understand their world and manage the sometimes complex emotions that come up.

Using Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Therapy can be very helpful in addressing problems you may be having in your life. If you struggle with relationship problems, decision making, depression, anxiety, self esteem, impluse control, trauma, substance abuse, grief, addiction or life transitions; I can provide a neutral non-judgmental space to explore and resolve these issues. Many people believe they should be able to solve problems on their own and seek help often waiting until the situation has grown unmanageable. However, early interventions and proactive actions tend to lesson the impact of painful experiences, allowing you to move past problems more easily and quickly.

I believe in a holistic approach to understanding each of my counseling clients, which I define in two ways: (1) You are composed of body, mind, and soul, and (2) You are one part of a larger, relational, family , and cultural system.
Let's be real: we're all struggling. Whether you’re masking yourself to appear okay on the outside when you’re actually breaking on the inside, or you’re trapped in thinking that you can’t confide in others because your emotions would be “too much” for them to handle, or you’re pushing down your emotions because you’ve learned that they are bad, selfish, or shameful to feel—you are not alone. I’ve felt stuck there before too, and I'm here to walk with you through your unique journey to finding peace, hope, and meaning in life.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
