Life can really be unpredictable at times. Whether it be a death, a diagnosis, career change, or divorce. Maybe parenting has more tears than happiness. Maybe your marriage isn't what you expected. Life can throw you curveballs and the constant pivoting and planning and required flexibility can weigh you down. You're not alone. We live in a world where fear and anxiety take the wheel but we crave solid ground. You just want a "normal" day; whatever that means.

There are moments we face challenges that are difficult to overcome alone. Taking that first step to seek assistance can be terrifying, yet create relief at the same time. You deserve a place where you feel safe, heard, & respected! My role is to provide a safe place for you to feel validated in moments of discomfort & help create balance within your life. A place where your feedback is held in confidence. A place where we can work together to see noticeable improvements as we strive towards your goal. Does that mean it will be easy? No. However, as you enhance self-growth you'll begin to find new strengths from within.

Many people look to counseling as a means to develop a plan for tackling life's obstacles or to gain perspective - be it life pressures, trouble with romantic relationships, parent-child relationships, or family relationships, job related stress, life transitions, or symptoms of anxiousness, moodiness, and/or lack of happiness. Counseling can provide a safe place to emotionally and relationally explore solutions that are right for you. I help my clients learn about themselves and build skills to remove the obstacles that block a healthier, happier path both in and out of session through assigned homework to build better habits.

You’ve built a life together, but something no longer feels secure, connected, or sustainable. I work with couples and individuals navigating trust issues, infidelity, communication breakdowns, or emotional distance. Many are high-functioning in other areas of life but feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure what comes next in their relationship. You’re not looking for surface-level conversations—you want clarity, direction, and a way forward that actually works.

Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted can make everyday life feel heavier than it should. You may be carrying anxiety, trauma, stress, or self-doubt while trying to meet expectations at work, school, or in relationships. Perhaps you feel disconnected from yourself or others, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy can be a space to slow down, feel supported, and begin making sense of your experiences—without pressure to have it all figured out or to “fix” everything at once.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
