Therapy doesn’t have to be a last resort—it can be a meaningful way to check in with yourself emotionally and make space for what you’ve been carrying. Just as we care for our physical health, therapy can be part of caring for our emotional well-being too. Whether you’re feeling weighed down by depression or anxiety, impacted by trauma, or trying to better understand who you are, therapy can offer a place to feel supported, understood, and less alone. I help folks with navigating anxiety, depression and life transitions. I also work closely with clients exploring aspects of their identity such as race, gender, and sexuality.

I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation, not like you're being analyzed under a microscope. I provide a warm, supportive, judgment-free virtual space where you can show up exactly as you are messy thoughts, complicated feelings, dark humor, overthinking, people-pleasing tendencies and all. Together, we'll explore the patterns, experiences, and beliefs that may be keeping you stuck, and work toward healthier ways of coping, healing, and moving forward. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand how thoughts influence emotions and behaviors.

Life can be messy, overwhelming, and downright exhausting. Maybe you’re carrying trauma, anxiety, or grief, and you’re tired of doing it alone. You want to understand yourself better, regain control, and start healing—but you’re not exactly sure what that looks like yet. If you’re ready to take that first, imperfect step, I’m here. No fluff, no judgment—just a real, safe space where you can be seen, heard, and start moving forward on your own terms. After working in federal prison for seven years, my approach is direct, straightforward, and grounded in real-world experience- I've "heard it all" which helps create a safe space.

The people I work best with are those holding a lot together for others. Parents navigating burnout, families reshaping after divorce or adoption, and individuals quietly struggling with addiction, food, or identity. Many arrive feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin. Together, we slow things down, untangle what’s heavy, and build practical, compassionate strategies. My approach blends insight with action so you can feel more steady, clear, and capable of moving forward.

I empower my clients to realize their optimum self through growth and discovery of their strengths and innate qualities. I believe that to be successful in our lives, we need to notice what works for us and transfer that insight into the areas that we would like to better. I often combine the use of solution-focused brief therapy (SFT) with narrative therapy since it helps in writing a better future for ourselves and creating hope for tomorrow. We decide our path and take the steps towards our new future. My clients are multidimensional and range in age.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
