We travel various paths throughout our lives, weaving experiences together writing the story of who we are. Experiences may cause us to question the path, and suddenly our story no longer reflects the life we intended to live. At these times of questioning, we must explore how to proceed. If you find yourself looking for someone to talk with, to think through where life has led you, allow me to walk with you for a while on your journey. What meridian lines do you need to guide you to your destination? Let’s work together to find how your story shifted from your intended path, and let’s find how your journey continues.

As a transgender, queer, and neurodivergent person myself, I am in this field to support you.
Let's decolonize mental health. Your well-being should not come at the expense of authenticity. No matter where you are in your life, the world can feel isolating and exhausting, especially when we do not fit neatly into narrow roles we are told are acceptable. Through connection and community, we develop the skills and language to describe our experiences. You get to define the terms of your own existence, you may already have the words or they could be difficult to find. Our therapeutic connection can provide a space for you to feel safe and supported in creating your space in the world.

“You must always be yourself, no matter what the price. It is the highest form of morality.” – Candy Darling - - - - Trans people are living in an extremely violent environment right now. It's a scary place to navigate, much less figure out who you are. I want to be a support, even if just as an advocate in helping you find care. - - - - Moving through life can be overwhelming: sometimes we just need someone to be in our moment with us and give us a perspective we can't see. If you feel like you're losing your direction, not sure who you are anymore, or just need some help accepting that person, counseling can be really helpful.

Hi, and welcome. I am a queer and trans neurodivergent counselor offering virtual sessions in Maryland and Texas. I counsel LGBTQIA adults who are autistic, plural, and/or survivors of childhood abuse. We usually address issues related to DID/dissociation, gender identity, and complex trauma. Clients sometimes report feeling alone in current relationships or not knowing why they do things. Maybe what were once effective ways of protecting yourself are now preventing the connection and growth you want. I value getting to know you, learning your strengths, and identifying skills that support you in seeking safety and healing.

Hi folx, I am a fat, brown, queer, non-binary, inked, and hole punched Texas therapist. I am supervised by Megan Torres, MA, LPC-S. I offer in-person sessions in Houston and virtual services to individuals in Texas who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I understand firsthand how systemic oppression, cultural stigma, and societal pressures can impact mental health, especially for queer and BIPOC communities. This understanding is at the heart of my practice, where I aim to create affirming, trauma-informed, and identity-affirming spaces for healing and self-discovery.

Hi! Looks like you are looking for a counselor. It is important you find the right person. Here is a little information on what I believe and my experience as a counselor. I believe every person is inherently good and is working to become a better version of themselves. Sometimes assistance is needed to facilitate the changes you want to make. That's where I come in.

There is not just one path that leads someone to seeking therapy and with that being said there is not just one type of therapy that works for everyone. I work with clients to help figure out what their needs are and together we figure out the best way to work together. My clients come from a variety of life circumstances and backgrounds and are often in some point of transition in their lives. I try to create a safe space for diversity and personal experiences as I believe they cannot be discounted from how it has shaped them. I work with many folks who identify as LGBTQ+ and those who are neurodiverse.

Therapy is a safe place to explore challenges in our lives & find strengths that we never knew we had. It has the potential to lift us out of our rut so that we can finally make the changes we've longed for. Whether you are working to decrease your anxiety, unmasking and exploring neurodivergence, changing careers, exploring your gender or sexual identity, or trying to change your relationships, therapy can be a great place to get a fresh perspective & face these challenges with a champion by your side. My own identity as a multiracial, queer, gender nonconforming therapist enables me to understand clients who feel like outsiders.

Transgender Therapists

As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?

A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?

Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?

An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?

Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
