I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which means I have special training to work with children who have experienced bad, sad, or scary things.
II work with children and adolescents who may be experiencing things that are difficult to cope with. My goal is to help young people identify and talk about their feelings, work through problems, and learn new ways to cope. I often use various techniques, and I try to match my style of therapy to my client’s personality. Therapy is not always easy, so it is my goal to form a trusting relationship with my client by building on their interests and skills during our sessions. It is important to me for every child I serve to have a voice whether it is through play, art, sand tray, music, or traditional talk therapy.

I help clients with depression, relational issues, chronic pain, domestic violence, trauma and PTSD .
Many of my clients are experiencing grief and loss of a loved one. Grief is a very difficult issue to deal with. I walk with my clients through that dark valley of grief through counseling and grief education. Death is not the only "loss" issue my clients deal with. I am there for my clients as they struggle with other life stage losses such as empty nest, moving, even getting a promotion can be a "loss."

I have worked with clients in a variety of areas including acute traumatic stress symptoms, PTSD , complex PTSD , domestic violence, anxiety and depression, etc.
Waitlist only. I hope to establish a compassionate place for you to come and discuss life challenges, obstacles and impacts. Often, impacts from traumas and other stressful events can leave us feeling stuck. We feel stuck as we experience flashbacks, nightmares, overwhelming emotions, anxiety and depression. We know the person we want to be, but we just can't seem to get there. I have a passion for helping others to understand how their life experiences have impacted them and how to move forward from these experiences utilizing research-based interventions so that they can achieve their goals.

I specialize in trauma recovery and it takes a great therapist/client relationship to work through trauma .
You aren't crazy or weak. Seeking help is not a lack of faith nor is it a lack of willpower. It's ok to not be ok. And it's ok to take as long as you need. Asking for help is not an easy thing to do. I know this because it took me a long time to ask for help because, well, I can be stubborn! :-)

, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma ).
Often the issues that bring a person to my practice are depression, anxiety, or traumatic events. Some struggle with eating disorders or other behaviors that control their lives. When in the midst of these issues, a person often feels helpless to change course. Reaching out for help from a trained professional is a courageous first step, a step that can change the course of your life. If you are the type of person that desires to take that first step and is willing to change what is not working for you, we will likely work well together.

I have specialized in grief and trauma work for many years, with great success.
(Not accepting new clients at this time) Life can be a challenge. Visiting with me is not going to change your circumstances, but I believe I can help you change the way you experience them. I have often been told that I am a warm, compassionate and nonjudgmental guide that will walk with you through dark times and will cheer you along as you reach new levels of freedom and hope. I do not view myself as an expert that can solve your problems, but rather as one who can sit with you while you wrestle with your deepest fears, hurts and pain and find the answers for yourself.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
