I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist and certified AutPlay Therapist. I have over 15 years experience working with traumatized children and their families. My passion is working with children and young adults to help them learn positive coping skills, manage emotions and have healing. I will provide a safe, nonjudgmental and confidential environment while meeting you where you are emotionally and mentally.

The Family Center for Therapy and Assessment (TFCTA) is a private practice owned by Dr. Gaston Rougeaux-Burnes (Dr. R.B.). Dr. R.B. is a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in working with families, couples, and children, from all over West Texas. Dr. R.B. offers a variety of therapeutic services including individual therapy, couples therapy, and psychological assessment.

I have a unique background of working as an Elementary School Counselor and have many years of experience providing support to children and their parents. I love working with teens and young adults who struggle with identify, self-esteem and anxiety and want to create a life that has deep meaning and purpose. I also love walking alongside young adults in navigating big changes and transitions. I excel in working with parents to help their children and teens be more successful. I also specialize in helping clients who struggle with phobias, performance anxiety and past trauma and who want to build self compassion and resiliency.

Welcome! My services are offered under the supervision of Bryan Moffitt, Ph.D., LPC-S. Throughout life, there can be uncertainty when navigating change. Feelings of anxiousness, helplessness, or frustration can be present at any time. You do not have to manage those changes alone. My usual modes of therapy consist of Cognitive Behavioral and Emotion focused therapy.

My approach to psychotherapy has been shaped by my own life experiences as well as professional training. I utilize a mind-body approach and specialize in mindfulness, focused attention techniques, and creative imagery which are known to be very effective for stress-management, sleep difficulties and emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression. I have special interest in working with individuals dealing with codependency and relationship issues. I believe that learning to cope with our inner turmoil is one of the cornerstones of being able to live a purposeful and meaningful life.

My primary focus is in working with young children - (RPT - registered play therapist). I also offer adult individual, pre marriage (SYMBIS certified), marriage, couples, and family counseling. I believe that every human being was created to thrive and fulfill specific purposes throughout his or her lifetime. These can be achieved through developing natural strengths and influencing others as a result of a growth mindset.

I am a licensed professional counselor who received my masters level training at Oral Roberts University in Christian Counseling. I have 19 years of experience and have worked exclusively in private practice for the last 14 years. I also teaching undergraduate courses at Lubbock Christian University. I currently work with ages 12 and up. My most recent training has focused in the area of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) as well as Internal Family Systems. Before working exclusively in private practice I worked at The Ranch At Dove Tree with addictions. I am currently working on my doctorate in counselor ed.
