Do you have stress and anxiety related to a pending divorce, infidelity, pornography addiction, drugs/alcohol, or violence ? Often these "adult" issues become problematic in households where children are involved. Are your children caught in the middle? Poor grades and oppositional/defiant behaviors can result from differing parenting styles or other conflicts between adults in the home. I understand the difficulty of seeking help in situations where feelings of embarrassment, guilt, anger, fear, or shame are involved, and assist my clients in resolving them.

My specialty is a client who has trauma, and they've have never had the help they need for it. They have depression and anxiety and want to lessen them and cannot remember key childhood memories. They may have sought counseling for, but they are still being triggered in their life, and still have not got the relief they so desire. They may have also struggled with substance or other abuse , and they may have given up, or are still seeking relief. The tenets of trauma are multifaceted and the person is impacted emotionally, physically, and mentally, and want to find out how to deal with their past/present to be happier and whole.

I help clients with depression, relational issues, chronic pain, domestic violence , trauma and PTSD.
Many of my clients are experiencing grief and loss of a loved one. Grief is a very difficult issue to deal with. I walk with my clients through that dark valley of grief through counseling and grief education. Death is not the only "loss" issue my clients deal with. I am there for my clients as they struggle with other life stage losses such as empty nest, moving, even getting a promotion can be a "loss."

Waitlist only. I hope to establish a compassionate place for you to come and discuss life challenges, obstacles and impacts. Often, impacts from traumas and other stressful events can leave us feeling stuck. We feel stuck as we experience flashbacks, nightmares, overwhelming emotions, anxiety and depression. We know the person we want to be, but we just can't seem to get there. I have a passion for helping others to understand how their life experiences have impacted them and how to move forward from these experiences utilizing research-based interventions so that they can achieve their goals.

If you or your family are struggling with issues like substance abuse , addiction, eating disorders, or relationship conflicts (infidelity, communication problems, etc.), therapy can be a great way to deal with those struggles. Most people struggle without support for longer than is helpful. People have the innate skills to cope and bounce back from their struggles. My goal as a therapist is to provide a non-judgmental space for you to identify and grow the tools to work on those struggles.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
