The goal is to have a foundation of trust, honesty and acceptance in a counseling relationship , a solid base from which to build.
I believe the counseling process empowers people and I consider myself a guest in the client's world. Using an integration of Humanistic and CBT approaches, emphasis is on the client’s process of self-discovery through direct experience. Thus giving the client the freedom to look within and then exercise freewill for change to occur.

I have an extensive background in working with couples and families struggling with substance abuse/dependence.
If you or your family are struggling with issues like substance abuse, addiction, eating disorders, or relationship conflicts (infidelity, communication problems, etc.), therapy can be a great way to deal with those struggles. Most people struggle without support for longer than is helpful. People have the innate skills to cope and bounce back from their struggles. My goal as a therapist is to provide a non-judgmental space for you to identify and grow the tools to work on those struggles.

I have in-field experience working with marital and family relationship conflict, anxiety, depression, anger management, self-esteem building, trauma, and adolescent behavioral work, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Experiential therapy in this practice.
Although society is growing to understand the importance of mental health, caring for our well-being is not always encouraged or seen as a high-priority; but, our ability to know ourselves and process through life events is foundational to freely living the life we hope for! Are you having difficulties caring for yourself or others around you? Do you feel as though the circumstances of life are overwhelming? Is it difficult for you to form healthy connections and relarelationships? Is your relationship or child struggling? If these questions struck a chord, I would love to be a helpful stepping stone in your journey of life.

I have spent the past 8 years honing my skills in working with individuals, couples , and groups to heal wounds and work towards healthier lives for everyone involved.
I am an advocate for the healing power of counseling. I can offer guidance and support to the individuals and couples that are willing to start that journey. Life is about facing adversity and coming out stronger on the other side. No one should have to face the world alone. I can offer my clients a safe and understanding environment where they are free to work through the issues that keep them from living the life that gives them meaning. I work with my clients to develop the best treatment goals for meeting their needs. I meet each client where they are and walk with them through their healing journey.

Life can be so overwhelming. You may have found yourself in a relationship where you cannot communicate effectively and the connection you once had is no longer there. The relationship you envisioned for yourself seems so out of reach. Maybe you are feeling anxious or depressed and don’t know if it will ever get better. You have a hard time managing your thoughts and feelings and wish you could take back control. This is not the life or relationship that you envisioned for yourself.

Research consistently shows that the client-counselor relationship is the most significant factor resulting in successful therapy, so it is crucial that you find a counselor who is a good fit for you.
I am an existential therapist, meaning that I view therapy as a safe place to openly process and explore deeply human concerns. When we consider our existential situation (e.g., the awareness of our own mortality), we often experience overwhelming dread and avoid any further exploration. This avoidance can result in debilitating anxiety and depression, often accompanied by substance use issues, low motivation, and unsatisfying relationships. My goal for therapy is to assist you in becoming your most authentic self by helping you to discover meaning in your life and guiding you towards taking responsibility for your existence.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
