I work primarily with teenagers and adults that have a history of substance use, anger issues or other emotional dysregulation, and trauma in childhood and/or adulthood.
NOTE: In person sessions are only offered in Lubbock, TX. I work with clients ages 10+ in the state of Texas. I work with people that struggle with anger, emotional regulation, being misunderstood by others, have negative self-talk, or have a history of using substances as a coping skill. If gaining self-awareness, finding meaning and purpose in your life, or having someone fight your hardest battles with you is part of your therapeutic goals, we might be a good fit. If your ADHD, depressive, or anxiety symptoms seem to get in the way of your success in work or relationships, we can work together to regain control of your life.

I work with children (4+), adolescents, and adults, providing compassionate support for those who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, substance use issues, LGBTQIA-related matters, grief, anxiety, and depression.
Having experienced sitting in the client's chair myself, I know how difficult it can be to reach out for help. I meet you where you are with genuine acceptance and empathy. My goal is to help you develop greater self-awareness and mental health by processing your experiences and learning new ways to tackle life's challenges. I understand that every person's situation is unique and requires personalized solutions. Together, we'll address a variety of issues, identify effective coping strategies, and work towards achieving your goals.

With over a decade of hands-on experience in outpatient substance use and co-occurring disorders treatment, and housing, I've seen it all.
As the COO at Stages of Recovery, I've championed innovative therapies and created environments that genuinely put people first. Treatment should be as unique as you are. And if there's one thing I sell, it's LOVE. Real, honest-to-goodness care and attention that you won't find just anywhere.

I also have experience treating dual diagnoses; substance use disorders that co-occur with other disorders, specifically with adolescents.
It can happen to anyone. Life is going along just fine, and then before you realize what happened, you find yourself in a tough situation you never expected. Coping with it has been far from easy, to say the least. You're not alone! If it's a traumatic event, if it's ongoing circumstances that impact your mood and overall functioning, perhaps I can help. I have specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, as well as Solutions-Focused Therapy. I use a holistic approach; considering the whole person in their environment.

I specialize in recovery in the broadest sense: recovery from grief and loss, substance use disorders (gray area drinking is a particular strength of mine), divorce, illness, life changes, relationships and codependency, depression, anxiety, and trauma.
The world we live in is challenging, and our attention is pulled in so many different directions that it is easy to lose touch with our own inner guidance and wisdom. We can find ourselves overwhelmed, distracted, exhausted, and disconnected from what brings us a sense of stability, purpose, and contentment in our lives. It is my desire to help you reconnect, discover, and explore what is truly meaningful for you, what brings you the most peace and ease, and to make authentic changes, so that you can navigate the challenges and joys of your life with awareness, courage, and a strong sense of self.

You’re stuck in the same destructive cycles-whether it’s toxic relationships, addiction, or emotional numbness-and no matter what you do, nothing seems to change. Maybe you keep attracting narcissistic or borderline partners, or you’re battling sex or porn addiction in secret. You might be carrying the weight of sexual trauma, struggling with self-worth, or using alcohol to cope. You’ve tried to “just move on,” but the past keeps pulling you back. You need real solutions, not just another therapist nodding along. I specialize in helping people break free from self-sabotaging patterns tied to addiction, relationships, and trauma

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
