Somatic Therapists in Lubbock County, TX
I’m a licensed clinical mental health counselor who believes therapy should feel safe, honest, and genuinely supportive—not clinical, stiff, or judgmental. I work with clients who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck carrying things they’ve had to manage on their own for a long time. Many of the people I work with have experienced anxiety, trauma, complicated family dynamics, relationship stress, or long-standing patterns rooted in earlier life experiences.

I work from a somatic lens, which means that I understand the ways that trauma and stress express themselves through the body.
I believe in the inherent wholeness of the individual and the capacity of the human being to meet, learn, and grow from life's experiences. I view depression and anxiety as messengers asking us to turn toward our grief, tend our pain, and realign ourselves with our heart's true desires. These things can be difficult to do alone. The purpose of the therapeutic relationship is to provide a safe container for healing and exploration. My desire is to support every client in finding innate resilience and felt ease, whatever their current circumstances.

I see you. You are not alone…
You’re watching your child or adolescent struggle—and you’re not sure how to help anymore. Maybe they’re anxious, shutting down, angry, or hurting themselves. Maybe your family is navigating divorce, and emotions feel out of control. You’ve tried talking, setting boundaries, being patient—but nothing seems to work. You want to understand what’s going on beneath the behavior, and how to reconnect before things get worse. You’re ready for guidance that makes sense, tools that actually help, and a therapist who truly gets kids, teens, and parents.

Children can have a hard time navigating their world through big changes, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Sometimes this looks like a kid who is shut down, a kid whose attitudes changed overnight, or a kid who starts misbehaving or lashing out unlike before. This is what I am here to help. It can help children and teens to have someone meet them where they are at without judgment or previous expectations to help sort through what may be overwhelming or scary. Adults can experience all of this too. There is nothing wrong with needing a little extra help in today's world.

My approach is rooted in compassion, mindfulness, and somatic awareness—meaning we go at a pace that feels comfortable for your nervous system.
You’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and if you're honest, lonely. You've been trying to hold it all together but self-doubt, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and anxiety seem to keep you disconnected from yourself and others. Maybe you feel stuck in the same relationship patterns that feel inauthentic and unfulfilling. You've analyzed the problem and managed the symptoms more times than you can count, but you haven't found lasting change.

I use a combination of therapy approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, trauma-informed practices (I am a practitioner in Trust-Based Relational Intervention), and basic somatic awareness techniques.
Do you feel stuck trying to process through grief or a major life change? Are you overwhelmed by crippling anxiety, low self-esteem, or just can't seem to get motivated? When you feel stuck in "freeze mode" or anxiety spirals, it affects every area of your life. Do wish you could find a better way to cope? Now more than ever, adults and teens are feeling frustrated, anxious, and uncertain about how to have better relationships and lives with purpose. The more you live in a state of constant stress, it begins to affect your mental, emotional, AND physical health. I believe there is a better way for you.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
